I din't see anyone mention large, 100-1000 year floods. No one old enough to remember 1955, 1964-65 floods. These were region wide, rain on snow events. Impacted CA,OR,WA and ID. There have been others even more recent.

I sure do, I grew up down in Napa and the rivers all along the coast including the Napa river flooded bad in those years and it seems like it was always
over the holidays..We were at Elk Ca for party in Feburary of 83 or 84 and came with the Navarrow river at flood stage , also the Russian and Napa
rivers were flooding too..
All the coastal rivers from Washington down to southern California use to flood in the winter time..
