Well hi my name is Jen I am from A small city named Belen in New Mexico, My husband and i where looking for a new place to start a new beginning for us and our three kids. I came accross coos bay in doing a search for Wal-marts in Oregon. My husband is currently employed at a walmart where we live and was looking to transfer. So far everything i have seen about coos bay read about coos bay and know about it is not to bad. Where we live there are so many awful people one couldnt go to a neighbors door and ask for a glass of water withought having to worry about the reaction they might recieve, there is no beauty here and the schools are sad. We have both lived here our entire lives and are entirely sick of the extreem dry heat and and lack of beauty. So i guess i am looking for some local reviews on what people might think or any advice to a family looking to move to coos bay. We are also looking into buying i found a few homes for sale a few found looked beautiful and where nicely priced. Is there any area to avaoid in coos bay? Bad crime, drugs.. Anything that would not be a good enviroment to raise our kids. Is there anyone who could help with any information that may be able to assist us in making the right decision for our little family. We are looking for a small tight knit place with friendly down home people. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!!!

Same advice I would give anyone. Don't come here without an independent income or a confirmed job, otherwise what can I answer for you?

Hello,

I recently was accepted for a new position from my current employer, and it is located in the CB area (don't worry, I'm not from out of state ). Thus, I am currently looking for apartments in this area as well! I came prepared with some advertised places on Craigslist and The World Link, but most were not appealing...however, during our driving all over the area we also stumbled across some much nicer looking ones called Inland Village Apartments . The same group seems to also manage Southridge and Alderwood apartments, which also were appealing. Does anyone know anything more about these places (other than what's on their websites)? Or are there any other similar places that may be worth considering?

Thanks in advance for your help!

My parents are seniors living in the Charleston area (near Coos Bay/North Bend). I LOVE it there. They are making it on just their meager social security, so it's a bit of a struggle for them, but their quality of life is vastly improved. And my dogs and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the national parks and beaches all around there. I have HUNDREDS of photos of my Brittanys zooming along the surf (Yes! We DO pick up our poop, if anyone is concerned about that. We live in a large city so picking it up is pretty much second nature). Oregon KNOWS HOW TO DO parks! I much prefer the ORegon Coast to inland Oregon but only because I don't like that extreme heat they get in the summers. I've often considered making a move to Portland for work until I retire - I'm a legal secretary - and then making Coos Bay my place. Very inspiring place to be if you are at all artistic as well.
