Always seeking the truth
I'm starting to look in OR for a small town (less than 75,000-or 15,000 or more and close (45 min) to a larger city) with weather thats milder summers and warmer winters and less crime than Boise.
Does it exist in OR?
Thanks,
Middle

The only large city in Oregon is Portland. What do you consider a 'larger city'? Other than Portland, any town in Oregon will have very low crime.

I consider a 'larger city' just that---one thats larger than the one in which I'm living....large enough to get a cheap thrill when I make the drive to go shopping. Maybe a Home Depot and a Penny's, maybe even a mini-mall or, is it too much, a mall?! The place I live now, I have to drive about 1 1/2 hours to get to a highway, then another hour to get to a place to buy at a good price, like a leather chair, a part for my car, other than going online.....yeah, maybe thats a guide, a town that has two or more new car dealerships, and at least two movie theatres.

Bend and Medford have around 75,000 (from what I can remember) while Eugene is over 100,000.
Medford I know has the big shopping also, not as many like there would be in a bigger city but they have the shopping. Bend is about the same as Medford.

Going through the City-Data pages would really be worth the time. It doesn't take that long, and besides it's worth investing the time if you are serious about making a move. It will help you narrow your search due based on what factors are your most important on your "wish list". You can search by population too and some have pictures.
Good Luck!

Freedom has the right idea. Southen Oregon sounds like what you might be looking for or there are a number of small communites outside of Eugene.
I was raised in Gold Hill and went to school in Eugene I have a fondness for both. Both areas are beautiful. There are some great towns close to Portland which is a wonderful city, but the further north you go the more questionable the weather summers are mild winters wet, not much snow to speak of as you travel up I-5. I think the problem people are having giving advice has to do with population. Most towns are small and 75,000 would be the city they are close to. Going to Medford to shop was big time when I was a kid. Hope some of this info hel/ps
