I'm glad someone mentioned "The Goonies", which is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Also, wasn't one of the Rambo movies filmed around Portland?

Yeah, and that Meryl Streep movie, "The River Wild" was half filmed on the Rogue. Since it's a wilderness area, they wouldn't let the movie crew drill anchors in the rock cliffs, so the other half was filmed in Montana on the Kootenai.

I think Ginger Rogers' ranch in Jackson County is still open as a dude ranch.

I once looked at Hoyt Axton's mountain lodge on the North Umpqua, which is where he was living when he wrote "Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog". It was a great place, about 6000 square feet of hand crafted log house. Even the door latches were hand carved. It was in too bad a shape, though. I could have floated the mortgage, but then couldn't have afforded the extensive repairs, so had to let it pass.

The Steamboat Inn is built on the site of one of Zane Grey's fishing lodges. The barbless hook dry fly reserve on the North Umpqua is still considered the finest fly fishing in North America.

They shoot TV shows in Oregon all the time. Numerous episodes of the X-Files were shot in Oregon. I was working at OHSU when they shot the pilot of ER there. They actually set up and shot it in the Emergency Room, while the ER was in operation. There's a TV show that just won't die.

Oh yeah, "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues", starring Uma Thurman was shot in Sisters, in the Santiam Pass.

A movie that might also have special themes or aspects, that would only be specific to Oregon itself. -Something like an inside jokes....or some things that only a REAL Oregonian, could truly appreciate. Also give a viewer an idea what the weather is like.

Kind of like the movie Fargo....or any movie or t.v. show, that depicts life in another part of the country. ie...Rocky / Philadelphia Seinfeld / N.Y. City Sleepless in Seattle / Seattle

I'd imagine there has to be a few movies. I'm from Ohio. Thinking about visiting Portland area, sometime soon. -THANKS
"Are we there yet". hahahaha

Looks like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III in Astoria too.

I thought that Rambo First Blood was partly done in Oregon, but apparently that one was done in British Columbia.
