"The Bed You Sleep In" by Jon Jost is one of my all time favorite movies. It's set in Toledo, a few miles inland from Newport. It features a ton of sequences of a nearby timber plant. It's a very bleak film. It's also extremely "artsy" and something a "normal" person is likely to consider "pretentious" or "too long". You have to approach it from the right mindset. The DVD isn't too hard to find but the quality is awful. I don't recommend it unless the idea of this film really, really intrigues you. On the off chance you get to see this on a film print, project I think it's worth checking out, but you need to be into "arty-films" or else you will hate it. Of course you have a better chance to be struck by lightening than seeing this at your local multiplex. You can go to the filmmakers website jon-jost . com and find a little write up of this film under the "work" tab. Click on "filmmaker reflections" on the lower right to get the inside scoop. I'd post a link but I don't think city data allows that.

Cool Oregon is in Sasquatch Country!

The Sasquatch Gang is an unknown Gem!! I just saw it the other day and it is a GOLDMINE for small things that only true locals would know and appreciate... like Oaks Park.... or Burgerville... lol.. you HAVE to watch it! but be sure to keep an open mind about it.

Oregon's got a slogan that goes perfectly with this movie..."KEEP OREGON WEIRD!"

The Goonies!

No seriously, I live in Eastern WA (Pasco) and I think Portland is great. I prefer Seattle because it has more of a big city feel (thinking of moving to Tacoma) but this I will say: the Portland area enjoys beautiful scenery.

Default Movie Overboard

As a former Oregonian, I must add that the movie "Overboard" was not filmed in Oregon, it was actually filmed in Mendocino California!
