Default Any movies that depict life in Oregon ??

I was wondering if there are any movies, that include a good deal of footage of Oregon ?

A movie that might also have special themes or aspects, that would only be specific to Oregon itself. -Something like an inside jokes....or some things that only a REAL Oregonian, could truly appreciate. Also give a viewer an idea what the weather is like.

Kind of like the movie Fargo....or any movie or t.v. show, that depicts life in another part of the country. ie...Rocky / Philadelphia Seinfeld / N.Y. City Sleepless in Seattle / Seattle

I'd imagine there has to be a few movies. I'm from Ohio. Thinking about visiting Portland area, sometime soon. -THANKS

"Dead man", with Johnny Depp was filmed in the Grants Pass area- fish Hatchery Park, Takilma, Oregon Coast, Rogue River and Applegate River.
I'm one of the dead confederate soldiers in the burned out Forests of Takilma. Lied in the snow for 4 hrs. got paid $30 bucks. Lol. Incredible cinematography, artsy kind of film. Directed by Jim Jarmusch. You might be able to find in on Blockbuster.com

The last 3 Grizzly Adams movies were filmed on a ranch on the Rogue River and in area forests.

And of course "The Postman", with Kevin Costner.

"Sometimes a Great Notion" was the very first movie shown on HBO. Many consider it "The Oregon Movie."

They cheated us when they made "Overboard." They filmed it on the California coast.

Thank you for all the responses.

Poster: Cadrmndanes -You really put together an extensive list.
You noted "Drugstore Cowboy." I haven't seen this movie yet. I will look for it sometime soon.

I found an interesting video on YouTube.com, where someone ALSO mentioned DrugStore Cowboy. Cool video posted by some filmmaker named Tom Chamberlin. To view, just do a YouTube search with this phrase: FilmMaker's Portland
Tom is the guy with the beard & red hat.

There are many other good videos (of Oregon), posted on YouTube.
