Default NY transplant.....teaching jobs?????

I am planning on moving out to oregon in early 2008. I hope i don't offend any oregonians by being a NY transplant. I see that there is alot of resentment with californians buying up the state (understandably). I fell in love with oregon when i spent some time out there. the lifestyle suits my personality much better. It is definitely not a matter of $$$. I would certainy make more money in my profession by staying in NY. (LIFE SHOULD NEVER BE ABOUT WHAT YOU MAKE.) Anyway, .....I was very impressed with the "niceness" factor, especially coming from a place like NY where people are generally self absorbed and disinterested in anything other than having the same or more than their neighbor. I truly hope that I fit in better out in Oregon. I am also looking for a smaller town environment and am considering the cottage grove area. I need to be near a university to finish up my graduate work and Eugene seems like a good place to go to school. Now that I have rambled on....... can anyone give me the rundown on teaching opportunities in oregon. i am certified to teach elementary and special education. I really don't care so much about the $$$$, just want to make a decent living and be happy doing what I love to do. I need to know if there are opportunities for teachers.
thanks for any help
michel

Default Check out these websites for teaching jobs

Hi there! I'm a transplant from NJ and absolutely love it in Oregon for the same reasons--lifestyle, etc. I got sick and tired of my NJ coworkers snickering behind my back because I didn't think that I needed to get my hair highlighted every 3 weeks and didn't get acrylic nails done. I have been loving life on the West Coast for a few years now. That said, I wanted to throw a couple things your way for teaching jobs. Since you are qualified to teach special ed and there's a great need for Special Education teachers in Oregon (like many other places), please check out these agencies as they focus on special education programs. Northwest Regional ESD (nwresd.k12.or.us) and then Lane-Benton County ESD and Lebanon ESD.
Best of luck to you, I think you will love the change of lifestyle in Oregon!
