well, if you want to be a logger. or Work at Safeway. Its all about retail. You could work selling wireless phones, and make 35-60 a year. The tech jobs are in Eugene and Portland. Good luck. Grants pass is very pretty. Roseburg, up north, very pretty, but very few high paying jobs. Oh you can sell cars 35-110,000 a year. Good luck

How does this area have one of the largest average home prices in the state and do it on $10 per hr. It's a miracle. The dollar must go alot further in Grants Pass.
Grants pass has under 30,000 people, where did you get these figures?

Do a search for

"I Love Grants Pass"

Find the right area to post the question, and see what you get for feedback.

I don't think you will have a problem once you arrive.

ok so I have been in oregon 10 years now i am 24. I think GP is beautiful.. as far as night life, the youngsters in GP dont need a club. When I was younger all I needed was a nice river some beer and a tent.. This place is amazing! I know it can be hard to find a job here and yes the more people you know the better and I know a lot! So that helps with getting a job, but so does looking, as long as you look you will find a job near GP! I hear all the young high schoolers saying there are no jobs here but they never get off their stoned asses to get one...The one downfall in GP is if your raising kids this place might not be so good. The meth rate here is so high everyone is either high off of weed or Meth.... I have bben gone for 4 years now(military) and I cant wait to move back.. I love the small town feeling of gp where everybody knows your name ; )

Thanks everyone for your responses. It must be, like I imagined, pretty hard getting a job there. But we'll stay optimistic and focused and apply for jobs. Whoa, I hope I'll be able to find something. The lack of night life doesn't bother me. The lack of a mall... hmm, not that bad either, but Grants Pass could use a mall sometime soon. I spent two summers there, in 2000 and 2005 and I fell in love with the valley and mountains, the Rogue and just the feeling of the place. I hope it's gonna be a good time to move.

Yep I agree about the class.

What I see is........ Most of them (lower income) are most likely coming from CA. They have Okiefied the area!! It's not pretty!!

I took GP off my list after we stayed there for a couple of days. Even my kids said YUCK when we drove around.

We really like Eugene and Corvallis!! Much cleaner areas to live.

I made a video for my site the other day, and it was so nice in the town, I wish I had a week to video the sights and places. Most of the new homes are exceptional architecture, especially the use of stone. Grants Pass is much closer to the trend in nice commercial landscaping seen in Ashland, without Ashland's grand liberalism and skyrocketed property prices.

The news just reported a story on the shrinking unemployment and increase of businesses in the county surrounding Grants Pass.

The homes are nicer than Medford, and less money, by like 10%.

I'm moving near Portland, only because I'm culturally adapted to it. But for the lower half of the state, I'd say that Grants Pass is the best town down here.

Grants Pass can seem like a drawback for kids accustomed to big city stuff. If no children are involved, that may be irrelevant.

One of my best friends grew up in Grants Pass in the 1960s. He's back in the area now with his family. He described the area as "A bit of heaven on Earth" and I think he's right as far as southern Oregon towns go.

Actually, I've met about 1 dozen people from Grants Pass in the past year. Nobody was on welfare. A few were musicians. One builds waterfalls in the
$100,000 range. One just finished his Bachelor's degree, working on a Master - met him in his families new Iced Drink business. Etc., Etc. Haven't met a soul on welfare from Grants Pass yet.

Seems like when I get around in that city, I meet only the ones that sustain the culture there. Now that I think about it, I haven't seen one panhandler in all the times I've been there, nor one bum pushing a shopping cart through town.
