Greetings all,
I will be moving to Grants Pass next month and I have been doing some internet research in the hope of finding some promising leads to possible job oportunities in Grants Pass, but I must say the perspective looks pretty grim. Does anyone know if it's possible to find a good job in Grants Pass? Or is the old saying "It doesn't matter what you know; it matters who you know" true there? Thank you in advance! |

Well, what can one do with a Master in English? BESIDES teaching?... Office jobs, library jobs - although I heard that many libraries in Oregon have been closed due to lack of funding... So, office/administrative jobs. Are those hard to get in Grants Pass?

Anything in Gov't, will be rare- with the cutbacks and all.
Library, no library. Banking, insurance, medical. There is a collections agency that employs quite a few people called DCS, they seem to be hiring alot. They make a good income there. What did you minor in? |

I lived in Grants Pass for 13 years. There are no well paying jobs there. It's medical or retail. Jobs pay minimum wage to 10.00 an hour at best. Landing a well paying job is all in who you know. A family member would be hired over someone with experience in a heartbeat. Grants pass is a retirement community. Absolutely nothing for younger people to do. No nightlife, shopping is a joke. You have to drive 45 mins to Medford just to shop @ a mall!
I am SOOOO glad we finally moved away!!! Good riddance to Grants pass !! Good luck to you! ![]() |

How does this area have one of the largest average home prices in the state and do it on $10 per hr. It's a miracle. The dollar must go alot further in Grants Pass. |

People who can afford to buy in Grants pass are coming from California or other States. They come there with money and are either retired or bought their houses out right and can live with lower paying jobs. |

Grants pass has a 5-7% unemployment rate, depending on construction and the seasonal work. Half of the homes we build and sell are to Oregonians. We do love the Cal. transplants, and they do come here with financial gains from their homes. You have a very different view point than I, regarding this great town. |

I think the job situation (lack thereof) is everywhere in Oregon, more true in smaller towns.
Grants Pass does have some really nice homes from what I've seen on the 5. |
