I guess my only question now is , are there any areas in Medford that are safer than others? Where should we head to? There are several Motels any suggestions? We have a doggie with us.

Will people throw rocks at our car with Cali liscence plates?

Any other last minute tips.

Thank you all for your help. You made the difference for us!

Hey congratulations! When are you making the trip? I don't know much about the motels, but I did live there for 12 years, so if you ever need to ask about certain areas, I can try to help! I still live in the Rogue Valley, just not Medford. I don't think anyone will throw rocks at your car - - - unless you drive like a maniac (just joking!)!!

I have to tell you about my "moving to Oregon" story! I moved here in the summer of 1990 and my final trip was just myself and my two big dogs in the car. We were on I-5 coming through Redding on a super hot day, and to top it off, my a/c quit working! Just before the rest area near Redding, one of my dogs put his head on my shoulder and threw up all down the front of me! So I pulled off at the rest area and was trying to wrestle two big dogs that both wanted to go different directions and clean myself off at the drinking fountain - - I looked like a drowned rat by the time I was done!!

Oregon is a great place to live. I notice you are saying that you need a couple part time jobs - - - that right there will be to your advantage, just the fact that you can take part time should open you up to more!
Good luck!

dsh you have been great. Your story about your trip in 1990 gave me courage! I won't have to make the drive alone. Funny but when I was young I would think nothing of driving to San Fran from San Diego on my own, but now that I am older I am a ninny.

I have missed the weather in England where we are from sooo much. The gentle rain, the Green meadows.......So I think I am going to like Oregon!

Thank you again Dsh for your positivity and help..

i could be wrong, but i don't think southern oregon is known for its green meadows. at least, not in the height of summer when i was there!
