I've lived in Oregon for a little over a year and I've done a ton of hiking. I know Oregon is called the Beaver state but I have never been able to see a Beaver in the wild in Oregon. I live in the Portland area and regularly venture out to the Cascades to hike. Does anyone know of a good spot to see Beavers in the wild here in Oregon?

Beavers tend to be most active at night, and they often live in little "beaver huts" located in the middle of slower-moving streams. From the shore, they may look like piles of sticks and debris, but they have underwater entrances.

So, it would be easiest to spot beavers if you hang around streams with signs of beaver activity, especially at dusk or very early in the morning, before and during the sunrise.

OK so again let me ask. I'm asking for some good locations to actually see Beavers. Are there any certain state parks or spots on any certain rivers in Oregon where someone has actually seen Beavers that frequent the area?

LOL, maybe we should change it from 'The Beaver State' to 'The Nutria State'. I see several of those. I think the only Beaver I've seen in Oregon was a stuffed one in the Forest Service Office.

I'm pretty sure they have a live one at the Oregon zoo.

Corvallis...look in the Southwest part of the city. There's roughly 20,000 of them there.

Gooooo Beavers!

Delta Ponds in Eugene just off the beltline. Not only have I watched them there, but I have also twice had to stop in the middle of the road to let them cross.
