We just got moved in to our new home in Clermont (Verde Ridge) and we would like to add a screened patio / porch on the back.

I'm trying to gather quotes here in Clermont and it has been a difficult process. When I needed to hire painters two weeks ago, every person I called would show up within a couple of hours to give me quotes, but it has been difficult to find screen room folks to show up and provide quotes.

So far I've got two quotes, one for about $4,800 and one for $6,300... both for aluminum porches 14' x 16' which includes adding an 8' x 22' section of concrete slab, a single door, kick plate, gutter, etc.

A few contractors I've talked with said aluminum hasn't dropped in price at all the last few years unlike wood and concrete, and said I may be able to get a nicer structural (wood or concrete block) screen room for about the same price as an aluminum.

Anyone have any input? I'd hate to spend $5k on an aluminum screen room (which isn't covered by my homeowners insurance) if I can get a concrete block screen room for roughly the same price.

1. Make sure anyone you deal with has an active license and insurance.

2. Double check that they actually pull a permit.

3. I tore down our old Florida room...30 years old...aluminum...I would think the prices might be going back
up...China has picked up a bit...copper got much cheaper....

4. I hated my old Florida room...one big sweat box...had windows...but still hated it....

Good luck
