Let's lay off the "you can't get anywhere in Disney unless your GAY" sterotypes okay people....
That's not the ONLY reason people get promoted...and as calitoflordia said...I commend Disney on thier attitude towards gays..the world needs to follow. I know MANY people who work at disney, gays/strights, rider operators and upper level managers..they LOVE their job and just like ANY business...you can't just start at the top...you have to WORK your way there. a Job isnt just about money..many people who choose to work at disney do it because they love what they do. I would say though that many retirees fidn this a good place to work as an after career job...and yes i will admit that many of the upper manager are disney bred employees...and i am okay with that...they put in YEARS of expereince at disney (My brother for example..went from Tower of Terror Operator to Manager of Monorail Transportation...took him 13 years...he Deserves that position)..they DESERVE that spot over someone who hasn't put in the years there IMO. call it wrong..but im sure thats how many of your own jobs operate...giving promotions within the company before advertising to outside sources. BOTTOM line...Disney is a fine place to work...talk to the people and see for yourself..you cant just take someone else's advice and go off that as your final decision maker. |

Full time benefits are good. Part time you pay out about $900 a year and the benefits are capped at $1,000 in coverage. Soooo I bet even if you break your arm or something minor it costs a lot more than $1,000 to have it fixed!

Why would you pay $900 for $1000 of coverage? That makes no sense at all.

I don't understand why people complain about working for Disney. Sure, the wages may be low for entry-level positions, but you're not forced to work there. If you don't like the job offer, then don't accept it and move on.

Exactly, maybe if more people would not accept these low wages, the employers would be forced to offer more money.

Disney squeezes rivals - Topic Powered by eve community
This is an older link but the situation is still the same. Disney is trying to run a monopoly business in Orlando, they have the bus at the airport and greeters to meet them at the airport. No other company in Orlando can do that. Why not? The airport executives need top be held accountable because taxi drivers, car rental companies, and regular transportation companies are being squeezed out of business and laying off people. They are forcing car rental companies to reduce their daily rates and this hurts everybody. Whoever let Disney sign a contract with Orlando International should burn in hell, because I know alot of people who have been hurt financially from this monopoly move. This is one other reason I can't wait to get out of here. Disney wants to keep wages low here and have their customers spend all their money in Disney World, nowhere else. Many other comapanies here do shady business like this and to me it is unacceptable. Basically, there is no "free market" here in Orlando because of this. |

It's called free enterprise. If people disagreed with this practice, they wouldn't visit Disney. I don't see Universal, Six Flags, or any other theme park doing otherwise.

The only reason Disney is allowed to be at the airport is because the airport stands to make a a ton of money from them. This is a monopoly. Its taking too much business away from taxis, limos, and car rental companies. If there were no Disney transportation people would be making alot more money here because tourists would be forced to take other means of transportation. There's no free enterprise here, are you kidding?
