We loved living in Hunters Creek near John Young Parkway. There was rarely bad traffic and 417 was right there. It was a really clean area with tons of business close by. Suburban- but within 20 minutes of disney and 20 minutes of downtown. It was great! We specifically lived at "The Cottages". Great people, beautiful property (in my opinon- we liked the look), and pretty decent staff overall- plus two nice pools!
Good luck!

Hi. there are some decent apartments in Orlando. Try apartments by Concord Managements. They are reasonable, some are even gated, and some of them are income based. If you make $10.00 an hour your rent wont be too much past $600.00. Also Winter Springs is a decent area too. There are really nice apts off Highway 17-92, a little bit pricier but I saw some signs that claimed discounts for siging on. If you have good credit you can luck up on one of those first month free deals. Best of luck.

Well, in my opinion I find the Orlando-Kissimmee Metro area to be a good place to live, maybe not the best place in the whole nation, but better than others. I have lived in Central Florida for about ten years, and I do not have any complaints about it. And by the way it sure may be hot, but the heat that will not kill you. And besides, getting sunshine everyday or most days beats any other state!

Nice: Orlando/Florida's weather sucks, in my humble opinion. But if you are oknwith 100 degrees daily, with 100% humidity for 9 straight months, you will be ok. Otherwise, forget it!

Facts Orlando Regional Realtor Association&
Prices are down, affordiblity is up.
"The median price of all Orlando homes sold in March ($137,000) decreased by 37.73 percent compared to March 2008 while the area’s average interest rate dropped yet again to 4.67 percent, its lowest point on record.
Of the 1,653 homes sales in March, 49.06 percent of the homes were either bank-owned (700) or distressed (111) homes. The median price of the bank-owned homes sold in March was $95,000, while the median price of distressed homes was $143,500. The median price for the “normal” homes (842) sold in March was $174,995."

As for the weather, no A/C need at my house yet! it's absolutely beautiful!

I would have to say Lake Nona would be the place for you. Nice, peaceful neighborhood...crime pretty much non-existent...10 minute drive to the airport. Zip code 32832....plenty of nice affordable townhomes available for sale, not that many apartment complexes but I did see Legends at Lake Nona advertising 2 months free.
Next I would say Vista Lakes...zip code 32829. Is between Lake Nona and the Airport, but had some controversy about old army munitions being buried in the neighborhoods. I'd say it would be a great place to rent, but be careful about buying there due to the bad publicity.
Third, I would say Hunter's Creek. Not sure of the zip there...about same distance from the airport as Lake Nona, just on the other side of it.
Good luck!

32837 is the zip code in Hunters Creek.
I like Lake Nona and Hunters Creek. If you are looking for older, more established areas 32806 and 32812 (south of Michigan in Conway) are nice areas and also pretty close to the airport.
32789 is Winter Park, probably the nicest of the older established areas and while not immediate to the airport, this drive is not too bad to get there.

hunters creek for sure. no question about it. try craiglists and type in hunters creek. u should find acple places. but i would up the monthly rent to more like 800-1000 for a 650-800 square ft 1 bed apt. places that come into mind are Audubon Villas, the cottages, Urbana, villanova and there are a few more but i cant remember right now. also try www. rent . com too. and as a fellow snowbird, i will give u some friendly advice; dont expect to find any eateries/resturaunts that compare to the north. although there is a place nere nere falcon trace/tupperware across from gatorland on south orange blossom trail otherwise known as OBT called house of pizza i think which is one of the closest thing to a good pizza and somewhat similar to pizza's u would find up north. and dont listen to ppl about how bad orlando area is. even though i'm not very fond of the area its cause being a single male in my mid 20's i enjoy the hustle and bustle, culture, cuisine, and diversity of a big city and orlando lacks all that IMHO, but thats just me and i will be moving out of here within a yrs time. although orlando's crime has gotten worse over the last few yrs its only in certain areas, and every place u move to is what u make of it. and let me tell u, i do not miss the cold at all. and orlando is in the center of florida so within a few hours or so u can be anywhere like miami, keywest, panama beach, tampa to name a few. hope this was informative. any more questions just ask.
