I was hoping to find something around 600$/mo, but am thinking this is not possible with the housing shortage/turning apt in condos I keep hearing and reading about. I am starting to reconsider my decision to move there. Thank you for any suggestions.

I'm glad you found a good place Omar. Lake Nona should be a lot nicer than Altamonte (I believe that's where you were looking, if I remember correctly).

Traffic try boston area you want traffic i used to drive 1 hour or more each way to work so traffic isnt an issue if you live in warmth with plenty to do and cheaper living than northeast and cleaner

I hate living in apartments.
So MANY apt complexes here were built out of wood (stick built) and then slathered with stucco to look like concrete. AND have paper thin floors and walls. I know from hearing neighbors at 3am daily, and was so glad to get into a house. you might want to see if it is possible to get into a house with a roommate or 2.
OR
check the construction type and noise at any apartment you consider.
Another idea, there are SO many condos that speculators/flippers overpaid for, and many might rent them out at lower than market prices to cut their losses.
