Try Kissimmee. It's really quite a nice little town. On W. Columbia Ave.(one block north of the main drag, 10 min form Disney in traffic,) between Hoagland Ave and Johnyoung Pkwy (Bermuda Ave.) are several Apt. complexes that nice, not too pricey and safe. You can take Johnyoung or International Dr. north to the Sea World area without messing with I-4 traffic.

Kissimme isn't particularly nice, and the schools are deplorable.

Is there anyway to put a nail in it? I mean, to just say, *this* particular suburb is one of the top three because it has good schools, affordable housing, is reasonably safe and isn't really far from the city center?

One friend recommended Clermont. Any seconds to that?

I live in CLermont. I'm very happy in 34711. The schools are overall good--and improving every year. Lots of amenities, shopping, movies, recreation, are all close by. Homes in many price ranges.

If you're going to Kissimmee, I can't speak for elementary and middle schools, but they do have Gateway High School, which features an International Baccalaureate Program (I.B. for short).

You also might want to look into Hunter's Creek (zip 32837), which is just north of Kissimmee, is safe, pretty close to the airport, and also has access to a I.B. high school and a few good elementary and middle schools. Plenty of shopping, but it is a little far from downtown (maybe 40 mins). I'm not sure how affordable you need, but prices are no longer insanely exorbitant anymore in this area. Quite a few houses have been stagnant on the market.

IB or not, Gateway is rated "D". Not anything to brag about.
