How exactly does a tour-guide work in the haunted houses, though? Are they like "To your right you have a monster who will now jump out and attempt to scare you."

I think it's more like they give you the background history of the house before you go in, and then make sure there's a smooth entry through everybody in line when entering the house.

Just got back from HHN. Overall the lines were not too bad, but it is the first night and it was raining. We did MIB, Mummy twice, Bill and Ted, and 7 out of the 8 haunted houses with our longest wait being about 30 minutes. We arrived around 6 and left at 11:45. Going back again tomorrow, we will see how the crowds are then.

I went Friday night and had Express but only used it twice. I guess some people stayed away because of the rain but it wasn't busy at all...I heard Saturday night was pretty light too. I'm going again on Sunday.

We are coming from Houston later in Oct. I planned to get tickets online. I didn't see the express pass available online unless you purchase it for multiple days. Can you buy an express pass at the park?

The express pass is here: Halloween Horror Nights® Express Pass at Universal Orlando (http://halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando/hhn_express.html - broken link)

You pick from one of those dates at checkout.
