Hi, can anyone help with the Maitland area? Fern park? Is it a good area? It is so close to winter park and the homes are very reasonable. Thanks in advance for any input.

Maitland is a great area. There are a lot of nice homes and good schools. Maitland is very close to Winter Park as both of their city limits touch one another. Both areas have farmer markets, film festival, stores, restaurants, RDV sportsplex, access to I-4, and museums. However I would stay away from the Fern park area. Fern Park is an area that pops up on the news every now and then for crime related issues.

I think I've read another negative comment about Fern park elsewhere, so thanks for confirming. We're actually looking for a place with lots of people and lots of things to do (or a place nearby such as Maitland) as well as a safe area for our kids. Thanks again and if you have anymore input, it'd be appreciated.

I'm not sure of your price range for homes. Maitland homes are generally priced above the metro average. Altamonte Springs, Longwood are areas located near Maitland that you may want to take a look at as well. Altamonte Springs has a mix of homes, apartments and condos. Altamonte has Florida Hospital Altamonte campus, Altamonte Mall, Cranes Roost park, restaurants and other retail stores. Longwood has a more historical charm to it. Longwood also has its own restaurants and stores. Both areas also have a mix of residential, retail and office space. Again both areas are very close to Maitland and have good access to Interstate 4.
