I am moving to the Orlando land area in a few months and I am looking for places to live. I am a white, straight, male, mid 20's and I am looking to rent in an area with a good amount of nightlife, bars, restaurants, and entertainment within walking distance. I am working in Lake Mary but I don't mind commuting if necessary. I understand renting in some of these areas requires a high rent for a nice place but don't mind paying it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Colonial Grand At Townpark Reserve Apartments Lake Mary, FL - Apartments for Rent in Lake Mary Florida

It's right in the center of Colonial Town Park with bars, shops and restaurants.

Since you don't mind high rents, I would also recommend downtown Orlando. Commute shouldn't be bad since you will be traveling the opposite direction as rush hour traffic. It would be about a 20 min commute.

I would agree that downtown Orlando in one of the high rise condo buildings would be the first choice. Aspire, the Metropolitan, The Vue, 57 West all come right to mind. If you are looking for a house, Thornton Park is probably your place. Also don't write off the apartments in SODO which is rapidly becoming an area to go for walkable dining and nightlife.

I agree with you guys too if the OP doesn't mind traveling. It would work out b/c the traffic is the opposite way.

Thanks for all the help. Any suggestions in the $800-$1000 rent range?

If that's what you intend to pay on your own and find a roommate almost anything downtown is in your price range.

You want to be within walking distance of downtown...look for a roomate if you have to, but that is where you want to be without question. Check craigslist for apartments or rented condos. You might be able to find something without a roomate that is older or smaller at that price range within walking distance of downtown. For example, here is something at the Grande...this is a party place.

Agreed. Should be very doable to Lake Mary, since you will essentially be reverse-commuting

I make this commute every day. It's 25m from Lake Eola downtown to my office in Lake Mary. The traffic moves smoothly and at full speed unless there's an accident or a Magic game on the way home. I am not looking forward to the backup for the Anderson exit during the season.
