Default Muvico and jobs

Weird title maybe but I have two questions.

1. Is there still a Muvico movie theatre at Pointe Orlando? The Muvico.com website does not mention it anymore. It was always my fave theater there.

2. I'm considering relocation to Orlando within 6 months or so. With experience as a manager in hospitality (fast food and recreation) how hard would it be to find a decent job in the area? Reading the posts here related to jobs did not make me any happier. But then according to facts on the internet the unemployment in Orlando and surrounding areas should be lower than what it is in L.A so it's kinda conflicting.

I'm looking to hopefully get out of fast food and back into recreation management (hence also the move to Orlando where I did a resort recreation internship years ago). I realize the wages are going to be lower than what they are in L.A. However the rents and food costs are also going to be a lot lower so I guess that should even out.

Thanks.

I think the MUVICO is now a REGAL cinemas.Pointe Orlando is getting a makeover, adding more restaurants and making it more pedestrian friendly. The thing that always hurt this shopping center was charging to park so they are making some changes to it,haven't been there in a while though!!The toy store FAO SCHWARZ closed a while back and in it's place now is a CAPITAL GRILLE restaurant!

Thanks for the info. Regal seems to be taking over a lot of theaters lately. Good for them LOL. Nice to see Pointe Orlando is going to change.

Outside from the parks and Pointe Orlando, is parking being charged for in Orlando? I can't remember.

That's one thing that bothers me in L.A. the expensive parking.

at pointe orlando they validate the parking if you get your parking ticket stamped at a store in the mall..they dont really charge parking too many places......at CityWalk you can park for free after a certain time at night and Downtown disneyis free parking to....and downtown orlando has charges for parking but there are places that only charge $4 for parking......

The Regal Cinemas is also now an IMAX theatre. It just opened back up a couple months ago around when Spiderman 3 came out. They gave us free popcorn and soda; I guess it is standard for people seeing IMAX movies only.

Just saw Harry Potter in the IMAX at Pointe Orlando and I was not impressed. It is a retro-fitted theater and very poorly designed. We normally drive to Channel side in Tampa for IMAX movies because they have a true IMAX and I will continue to do so.

Movie theaters in Orlando are horrible in general, most very old with uncomfortable seats and scratched screens. The movie theater at The Loop in Kissimmee is newer and nice though.

I would consider doing a lot of research on the cost of housing before you move here. Yes it is cheaper than LA, but still too expensive for what the job's pay down here.

Thanks. Yeah I'm doin research before I make the final decision. I am a restaurant manager and from what I can see posted on line it seems these jobs pay pretty much equal to L.A jobs. But I need to look into that a bit more and find out for sure. Andf for now i have to assume I'll still be in restaurant management before I can try to transition into anything else. I also hear mixed reviews (esp on this forum) about the job market and interviews and all that. My friends down in Orlando never really had an issue with jobs, and finding jobs (they are in hospitality management) however.
