Default Lake Buena Vista safety

Hey guys..I'm new to this website and I definitely have enjoyed reading up about a place I am about to move to, so thanks for that. I plan on moving to Discovery Palms apartment community in Lake Buena Vista. Can someone please tell me how safe this area is? I am very nervous after reading about all the crime in Orlando. I'm coming from NYC but it seems from what I am reading that NYC is ten times safer then orlando. Please drop me a line or post a reply and let me know if I actually have any reason to be scared about living in this area. Thank you so much!!

Hey i usually try to tell the truth about crime here.......there is a high rate in the city of orlando but it is alot safer in Lake Buena Vista and if you have any kinda street mentality you should be fine.......well i actually deliver pizza in the area you are moving to and have had deliveries in "Discovery Palms"......it is next to the premium outlets shopping center which is really nice and next to 2 of the Disney college program apartment complexes.....those are called "Gables Commons" and Chatam Square"......those places are all college kids from all over the world literally and they are in college and working for Disney....it is a party atmosphere unlike anything ive seen in those complexes......i here about different partys all going on at once in those places......i get to experience all the cultures of those kids when i deliver pizza there....well about your apartments ...yeah that is reall safe.....i can't even get in there to deliver pizza.....the customer usually ends up walking to the gate to pick it up......it is a gated community and pretty quite and you really dont hear the college programs noise in your apartments.......Lake Buena Vista is a safer area of Orlando because there is more of a police presence for Disney and the city wanting tourists to keep coming.......there has been some incedents in that area of crime like a murder from a drug deal gone bad at the "Orlando Ale House" and that was a couple months ago and in the nice looking "Sable Palms" Apartments 2 drivers for Pizza Hut and for Domino's have been robbed but i still deliver there i dont feel unsafe....then there was the kidnappings at downtown disney but i still dont feel unsafe out in this area at all....that is just how Florida is....and im sure stuff will happen in Manhatten every now and again to.........but it feels pretty safe overall in Lake Buena Vista........Stay away from OBT, PINE HILLS, OAKRIDGE RD. AREA unless you know people there and you'll be fine

That area is crazy crowded because of the tourists, but as far as I know it is safe as it gets here. I went to see a concert on July 4th - left at 1am and felt very safe. I lived in Chicago for 10 years so I know to watch my back at all times, but nothing to fear here...........except for the traffic. It's a complete nightmare 10 months out of the year.

You are right about the traffic.......not so much on I-drive where your apartments are but by the "Premier Outlets"....and by State Road 535 (Where you enter to go into the Disney Area).....is a mess with traffic....it isnt Manhatten but there are "So" many tourists driving around in that area and all those different driving styles combine together to form real traffic problems......I see people constantly not knowing where the hell they are going and at the last minute cut people off all the time down here.....and i have actually seen someone stop in the flow of traffic while getting on to the interstate (I-4) just to look at a map....the people behind this guy were ready to whip his azz...there are people always just stopping in the middle of the road out here just because they think to themselves, "Hey Im on vacation and im at Disney world and no one is gonna hurt me because its all a dream for me and my family to be here"....well they are wrong ...ive seen so many accidents delivering pizza out here that it isnt funny anymore.....people blowing through red lights at that intersection of Hotel Plaza BLVD and 535 all the time and there has been plenty of wrecks from that.....i have been Hit n Run too.......some guys just slammed into the back end of my car and took off on to the interstate......dont know how im gonna pay for the damage to my back end now.........just watch out driving in this area .....its a mix of people from all over the country with different driving styles mixed in with that feeling of safety being on vacation like no one can hurt you.....and mixed in with the people from other countries that havent really had a life of driving until they got here......

That area is ok. My friend lived on SR-535 (lake Buena Vista) and he said it is reasonably safe there... I am not sure of that specific apt complex....

I am not sure if this is the place you are talking about or not, but if it is, check the resident's ratings of the place: Discovery Palms Apartment Ratings, Reviews, Map, Rents, and other Orlando apartments for rent from ApartmentRatings.com

Overall, Lake Buena Vista still has middle class folks living in, not really a ton of criminal element.

Orlando, Kissimmee, Poinciana, Union Park, Oakrdige, OBT, East Orlando, MetroWest... these are THE real trouble areas. The problem with the Orlando Metro area is that the ghettos are spread out everywhere throughout town and unless you are loaded on the cash, it is VERY hard to escape being in an area that is is not besieged by the ghetto.

Overall, Orlando has become very very violent, but I would not say it is at the NYC level... yet!

I'm fairly certain that Discovery Palms are the pastel colored condominiums that I always see from International Drive around the Publix shopping center near Dolly Parton's Dinner show. This is the Tourist/attractions area and aside from lost tourists doing crazy things on the roads as THASPECIAL says you shouldn't have many problems as far as crime goes!

There's a strip near Disney called Palm Parkway that has nice INNs and Suites and is much better priced than "on property" Disney hotels. The area is safe, pretty, has great places to eat and is less than a mile to the parks. Cannot beat this area. Do a google search for Palm Parkway Lake Buena Vista and you will see some good hotels.
