NY vs Orlando
Good Day All
After great thought and reading everything that has been posted about moving down to Orlando I am getting the feeling that New Yorkers are Just NOT WANTED THERE. It's not about if NYC bad or orlando worse these Forums are for Advise to help one another. Yes there may be some areas that are not great to live in but people please no matter where you go its like that. You cant Judge every New Yorker is the same. I feel if people are looking for advise its because they care about the quality of life and if there asking where are the good schools then these are the people that you should want as neighbours that there going to take care of the area and keep it at its best. I am Pretty sure not everyone in orlando is a native and that most of you came from somewhere else. Everyone deserve a chance and a better way of life for there family. I see that the people posting comments all live in some area of Orlando apparently if you not happy you will move and if your happy why try to ruin someone elses happiness. So please Help is what we need and for those of you have posted your comments with great suggestions THANK YOU because they have been really a great help you indicating the good schools shows the area that are worth moving to and for Us New Yorkers if you read most of the forums you will see that area Seminole county is the place for good schools and living area. Anyone with good suggestion please let me know Thanks. PS its not about NY vs Orlando we are tring to leave NY and become part of your County.

If you join the NRA and take up shooting sports, I'll welcome you, regardless of where you are from. But, if you are a flaming liberal from NYC or NJ who thinks guns need to be banned, that Hillary Clinton is our next savior, and that the government should provide "free" healthcare for everyone, then I don't want you here. Florida is a red state, and if you can help us keep it that way, I'll call you "friend" and buy you a beer!

If she is a flaming liberal, she ought to look into South Florida. Only 12 percent of Broward owns a gun. Interesting that we had a smaller amount of murders last year than Orange or Palm Beach county, but we have about 700 thousand more residents...in 2003, we only had 34 murders, an incredibly small number for such a large county. Now, its much higher, but still at a rate below the national average. I'm not a liberal, by the way (I am a socially off the map going either direction, and fiscally very conservative), and we DID have that subway get robbed in Plantation where the marines shot the robber. Good for them, I am all for gun rights if criminals keep on attaining them illegally. I just wish guns never existed in the first place, and find that areas with a low prevalence of gun culture have lower murder rates. Politics aside, the anti NY sentiment mainly has to do with New Yorkers who move there, and bring a pushy attitude/complain excessively/etc more so than ALL New Yorkers. Just blend in like I did, and you will enjoy it.

Since when did it matter if someone is from a different political view from others?
You mean to say you don't want people who support guns being banned and free health care?
That honestly has just put me off moving to Florida, or even visiting.
Being a Labour supporter in the UK (mon' Tony Blair & Gordon Brown!) some of my closest friends are Conservatives. It makes no difference to what kind of person they are, just their beliefs.
And if someone can provide a free health service that manages to succeed then I'm all for it. But NHS is sadly a victim of its own success.

These are the type of New Yorkers i like....you just said the truth about what locals dont like about "new" transplants "Anywhere"....whether it's California, Florida, Utah, Japan.....no one wants to have a new population moving in and trying to say how much more "inferior" the true locals are just because we are different in many ways.....we are all human....do unto others as youd have done to you........i know if half the state of Florida moved to NYC and started saying stuff like, "Boy, this weather always blows up here" ...or ...."ive seen worse things happen in Florida"....well thats the attitude we as locals have become tired of.....no one even you that are from NYC likes someone coming into your home and telling you that your cooking sucks or your bathroom smells like crap..........and thats all i get mad at with outsiders sometimes.....they love thier city and i understand but please watch what you say because it sounds a little different when you say it out loud than when its in your head....it comes off as being cocky....well i welcome people from anywhere after we work together for a while or just bond after a while but in my nature i just dont like "any" pushy people....and thats it

I always tell my other transplanted New Yorker colleagues with the pushy attitude to ask themselves what THEY would think if a bunch of southerners moved into NY and started complaining about how nothing is the same, everything is terrible, the culture is so liberal, etc. Its basically what a lot of New Yorkers are doing, and I HATE that trend. I came down here realizing that it might be hard to get a good Pastrami sandwich and that the attitude was slower, but hey, I was looking for change, not to BRING change.
I particularly got a laugh about the "your bathroom smells like crap" part. Hahahahahah! Its so true, but realize that not ALL of us are like that .

I know truthfully that when you actually start breaking the stereotypes down and start to see the person inside that New Yorkers are just like everyone but alot of them just explain things differently.......and i dont really hate anyone .....i know New Yorkers like you and see the ones that come down here to "prove" something too.....well i wish everyone could take that NFL LOGO of where they are from off of thier hearts and then we could just judge the people by thier personality and attitude.....when you are trying so hard to show what is great about where you love sometimes it doesnt get the results u are looking for because no one likes to be forced into thinking something is so much better .......well it should all be about who you are as a person.....and not where you are from that defines you.......anywhere you live there will be people that let you down in life so why hold on to thinking that people are better in one area than another.....love your city but let other people love thiers too.....they dont have a choice of where they were from as a kid and you didnt choose to be where you were from....sorta like our skin color......thanks for your reply and for being a "real" person

there are so many ny'ers and ny-ricans here in orlando, the only difference is the weather. florida now has a rep for ppl being rude, bad drivers, poor customer service, etc... if you look into the smaller fla towns with more natives, USUALLY it is friendlier, less crime, driving habits are better...
look at south fla. filled with ny/nj transplants. ever drive there? are ppl very friendly for the most part? (not really.) look at northern fla --- especially northwestern fla where many natives live, and you'll see/hear that it's s different way of life there.
