Hi all. My family and I will be moving to Orlando next month due to job relocation (from Chicago). My employer is in Central Florida Research Park (32826). I was told a nice area close to the office is Waterford Lake but I've read through all of the threads and don't see it mentioned much. Can I get your opinions on this area? Would it be a good area for a young (late 20s/early 30s) family with a 2 year old? Are there any other areas you would recommend within 20 minute commute to my job? We're looking to spend <$1000 in rent for 2+ bedroom. Thanks in advance for your help!

Well when the Waterford Lakes area came into being it was a great area. Im sure though someone else who lives there currently will be of more use info-wise.

The Waterford Lakes area is a good family area, so are many other areas around UCF. (you can look into neighborhoods off 419 from 50 all the way through Chuluota and Oviedo, and Avalon Park and Stoneybrook). All good areas for families close to UCF.

We moved to Baldwin Park from Birmingham,MI 6 years ago and love it.
It's a neighborhood but more like a city within a city with shopping, restaurants, and services.
Bike trails, parks, pools etc similar to Celebration FL but minutes from downtown Orlando.
You would have a 12-14 miles commute on the 408 tollway.
There are rentals, condos townhomes and single family homes upwards of multi million.
There was an orgainzed Toast the Tree where 5 families were hosters and 150 toasters spent 45 minutes before moving on to the next house.
A neighborhood evening parade and quite a few activities.
Pre K and daycare, Elementary and Middle School on site and Winter Park High just outside.
Go to baldwinparkfl.com and no I'm not a realtor; just a guy who retired at 48 in 2002 and moved to FL in 2004

There are plenty of nice places in the Waterford Lakes area. I live in a community called Eastwood. There are tons of families and children. You can search zip 32828 to find homes in Waterford, Eastwood, Stoneybrook and Avalon Park. You can't beat the shopping and restaurants in our area ans proximity to the 408 tollway. You can get to downtown, the aiport and the tourist corridor pretty quickly.

Oviedo would be another choice for you from Research Park. You would go north on 434 or Alafaya Trail. Next to Oviedo is the Tuscawilla area located in Winter Springs zip. I work near Research Park and many people also live in those areas.

Good luck on your move!
