I also have just moved to winter park Florida and have a 9yr old son. I would love to meet up with other homeschoolers...

My wife and I homeschool our three children - six, five, and three. We live in Winter Springs, off Tuscawilla. It's also a great area to live if you're looking for a nice place here in Orlando. A very nice suburb, not too busy and not far from things to do. There's no "don't go in that area" here.

Incidentally, there's another family across the street with smaller children, also, which makes for great playtime for our kids, and there's a great park with a pond nearby. (I might add that the house directly across the street from us just went up for sale, so if you're looking for a neighborhood with kids.....)

Winter Springs is also a great area to live, if you're looking for a safe area. A very nice suburb, not too busy and not far from things to do. There's no "don't go in that area" here.

I should work for Winter Springs Chamber Of Commerce.

We have homeschooled for 16 years, first in NJ, now here, two graduates, one college graduate, one in college, one in high school, one in middle, one elementary. We register with the county, very easy to do, we keep a portfolio and copies of the table of contents from workbooks and dates completed next to the page completed. We have an evaluator test the kids yearly with the IOWAS, she gives us a signed form that they test at grade level, we send that in two days prior to the due date. Lots of homeschoolers in the Sanford/lake Mary area, look for PACE on the yahoo groups for homeschooling. There is a teens yahoo group in Orlando, lots of field trips, too many to actually participate lol. We love it here, lots of outdoor time, 9 monts outside, three in the pool or at the beach for comfort sake, but we are at the beach or in the pool al,out year round. All summer long there is a homeschool group that meets at Blue Springs in Deland, great fun. Saints physical education program is phenomenal, various meeting places, have fun .
