We are planning a move to the Orlando area. We homeschool our daughter of 6 years old here in SC. In our paticular area it is a huge trend and we have a really big social group with lots of clubs, field trips etc. Just curious as to the quality of the homeschool community in the area. Thanks!

We currently live in Illinois and homeschool our 4 children ( 7, 5, 3, and 1). We are planning on moving to the Orlando area this fall.

What types of activities have you found thus far? I have contacted a group there but haven't heard back.

Orlando is a big homeschool community. Here's a couple of links to get you connected:

History & Mission | Circle Christian School

(I put this link to take you directly to the mission of CCS).

Home - HCECF - Homeschool Cooperative

This is Homeschool Cooperative Education of Central Florida.

Orange County also has a Virtual School.

Default Homeschool Conventions

You might also want to check out local homeschool conventions:

The 2011 South Florida Homeschool Convention

FPEA Homeschool Convention (http://www.fpea.com/Convention/index.htm - broken link)
(This one is usually very large; I have never attended the first one.)

Also, if you have a few minutes, I would appreciate if you would fill out a quick survey for me about curriculum:

Supplemental Lessons for Homeschoolers Survey

Thank you!

Thanks to you all! Great leads, I believe I am on the right track now. Do any of you all have experience with these paticular groups?

I am also moving to the area in July and am homeschooling my daughters (2.5 and 4). I would love to hear of other homeschool groups and forums in the area, especially any that are not necessarily religion focused. Thanks!

Which books do you like for homeschooling? I like the SRA system but it is way too expensive. Have you tried Saxon? tks
