I would 'third' checking out the older area of Winter Garden. Go to Plant St in the downtown area and just about anything to the north up to the shore of Lake Apopka is a decent neighborhood. As mentioned however, go a few blocks south of Plant St. and things aren't as great. Your idea of great and not great might vary of course. I talked to a man who lived on down on Story Rd (or maybe it's street), in what most would call a 'seedier' area of Winter Garden. He'd lived there over 30 years and he had one break-in during that time but he still said he loved living there.
