Is there such a thing? I saw some info about a downtown redevelopment plan but they were from a few years ago. Did they take place. We like the Winter Park downtown but have seen some homes online in Maitland that are much more affordable, we wondering about the area since it's so close to WP. We are reasonably young (50's) retirees moving to the Orlando area next year. Any info on area would be appreciated.

Those plans for downtown Maitland never materialized due to the construction crash. However any home in Maitland would be close enough to downtown Winter Park or Orlando to easily take advantage of those areas. Also, if SunRail gets developed (the good governor permitting) it's still a good possibility that the downtown plans may get kickstarted again as the station would be right across the road.
