Hi everyone, my husband and I are going to look at houses soon in Florida around the Kissimmee area. We would be relocating from NJ. I have searched through many online and it seems the ones I like the most end up being in a short term rental area. Any thoughts on what it would be like living in one of these neighborhoods? Thank you.

Some of the communities that the homes are in:
INDIAN POINT PH 7
Mallard Creek of Lakeside
Chatham Park
INDIAN CREEK PH 1
ROLLING HILLS ESTS UNIT 2

I work with buyers all through the short term neighborhoods and now see full time residents living in all of them, great prices with pools.

Wouldn't bother me living there, great investment for the future.

Hope this helps,

Thank you, it does help. The houses I found are great prices and all have pools. I just wanted to get some feedback.

Default Kissimmee Florida

I moved here because my wife wanted to live in a warm climate and I do have to say it is very oppressive most of the time. I waited months to buy this foreclosure and got a terrific deal so I thought! but not so good because it is so depressed in this area. My two biggest problems are the extremely rude people and the horrific driving conditions and not to mention the crime it is so bad. Just visit a local television newscast website and see for yourself. I will be deciding in the near future if I remain to stay here or not. I have been here a year now and we must live in the home for 2 years because of government taxes on gains of a home but I will be lucky if I break even. I will keep this brief but I hope this helps someone from being attracted to the affordable housing in Florida.

The down side to living in a STR (short term rental) community is you never know who your neighbors are going to be. If you get a party house full of people one week, they're not going to care and can be up all hours of the night keeping you awake and there isn't a thing you can do about it. Also, you going to be living around a lot of empty houses most of the time.

You can find nice houses with pools in nicer areas. Kissimmee isn't that nice of an area here. It really is one of the worst areas around here. I grew up in Bushwick Brooklyn NY and I wouldn't live in Kissimmee.

I totally agree Kissimmee is not a good choice and I SAY CENTRAL FLORIDA in all has many downsides that out weigh the good ones. All my friends up north talk highly about FLORIDA it sounds nice until you actually live here. enjoy the sun because many tornados and similar storms will rip your house apart .

Kissimmee and St cloud are not that bad of area.
There are pocket of good and bad in any place.
But I think the really problems are three fold if you are coming from up north.
1. Unemployment is about 1% to 2% higher than most of the country.
2. This is a bus system called links, but the stops are not that close to ever place.
3. There are many homes up for sale as the population of center fl when down by 12% about 2 years ago and has not come back yet.

The good side.
1. The cost of living I am sure is lower, but that does means that some jobs pay less.
2. The beaches are close.
3. There are many theme park to play at.

4. Wok with Jon, St. Clouds’ Oriental Grocery Store Opens. St. Cloud
residents can now enjoy the convenience of cooking oriental food
without driving all the way to Colonial drive for their grocery
supplies. Wok with Jon, Asian Market is located at 4115 Neptune Road.
The store is open 7 days a week from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm on Monday to
Saturday and 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sundays. The selections are
mostly, Filipino, Chinese, Japanese and random oriental products. If
you ask how to cook or use the products, the owners are pretty helpful
in giving cooking tips. Owners Joela and Jon Lowe.

Final words are to visit the area you want to live in for at least a week first.
Do what you would do if you were going to live here.
Shop for groceries.
Shop for cloths.
Look around to see if there places you think are fun for down time.
I have live here 10 years, many have been he longer. With that said, not as much as before, but we have many persons moving in and out, so many long timer have a wait and see if they will be there next week attitude.
