When I lived in Pensacola, there's an amazing place I shopped at called Duh. I am not trying to plug them (although it's a great place), but if I'm allowed to post a link?? Not sure... it's duhpensacola dot com. I am trying to find similar places in the Orlando area. Any suggestions?

Along the same lines, there are a lot of second-hand, antique and consignment furniture and home decor stores around, but which ones do you guys recommend?

We just bought a house and I'm in severe need of furnishings and decor, and I'm not really a mainstream kind of chick so I need some good places! Gimmie wrought iron, reclaimed pine, funky chandaliers, big cement pots for the front porch....you get the idea!

Thanks in advance!

A couple of places come to mind immediately....

1. (not sure of the name of the place) a furniture store located in the Target plaza, just east of the FL Mall on Sand Lake Rd. (same side of the road as the mall). It's been about a year since I've been there, but the best way I could think of describing them would be "eclectic."

2. There is a small place on the NW corner of Mills (17-92) and Virginia - it's an old lighting place - had some unique things the last time I was there (a few weeks ago).

Sorry, can't recall the names of either place....

lol! no worries about recalling the names - the locations will do for a good Google map!

After pulling it up on a map, it looks like your first suggestion is a hidden wonder. The only listed furniture store that I see there is American Signature Furniture which, is a great place, but I don't think is the one you're referring to as it's a chain furniture store with very classic furnishings... not eclectic I don't think?

Your second suggestion, are you talking about Lamp Shade Fair? Of course, anything that close to Thornton Park has to be cool, right? LOL. But I've never been in there.

Thanks for your suggestions! Let me know if you think of more!

yeah, I just pulled up the map, too......it's neither.

American Sig is in the front of this plaza, the store to which I refer is on the opposite end. It didn't show up on the map.

Also, the 2nd suggestion is not Lamp Shade Fair....they're far too "nice" for the place I'm talking about. I should be down that way tomorrow .... I'll look for a name and get it to ya.

Also, if you check your map, you'll see where hwy 527 (Orange Ave) makes a little jog and goes between Lake Ivanhoe and Lake Highland. Along that stretch of road (3-4 blocks) is a line of stores that might give you some ideas, too.

Hope that helps.

Oooh, great tips, THANKS! The fact that Lamp Shade Fair is "too nice" to be the place you're referring to really gets me pumped LOL I think you have a good idea of the kind of stuff I'm looking for!

Oops....sorry, gave you bad info....the store to which I was referring is on the corner of Lake Highland (not Virginia) and 17-92 (Mills Ave). The name is: Simonet Electric

The furniture store in the Target plaza.. I think you're referring to World Market? It's closed now but there's one in Winter Garden. I loved the location on Sand Lake.. funky stuff for good prices!

The store on Sand Lake is called World of Decor and there is another location (a better one IMO) on Orange up near Winter Park Village.

Also, check out Washburn imports. Really cool stuff like you described.
