There are some beautiful new communities around the Curry Ford/417 area. Some with 1 Mil+ homes. That is also the area of Vista Lakes? Don't understand your statement that it was gone to %#&#& at all.

I've heard that Conway isn't such a good area, and neither are Kissimmee or Poinciana. We will be moving to Orlando. My husband took a job transfer and will be staying in temporary housing until we can sell our Houston home and get myself and the kids out there as well. I've been trying to research the suburbs around there, so I was happy to find this website. I was considering: Altamonte Springs, Oviedo, Clermont, Minneola, St Cloud, Casselberry, & Titusville among others. My husband will be working at Orlando International, so we'd like to keep the commute under 45 min each way. I saw somebody on this website saying that Melbourne was nice and about 30-40 min to Orlando, but when I looked on randmcnally, it showed it as over an hour. What would be reasonable & safe areas to consider for commuting to Orlando Int'l from? Don't worry about my price range...other than Dr Phillips & Windermere, I think most areas have stuff in my range from my research on realtor dot com. It would also be great to have bike trails in close proximity. Hopefully it won't be too hard to find a home with fruit trees in the backyard (esp oranges or tangerines)....that is my dream!

If anybody could help give me answers on my above post (even though I guess I hijacked this post), I would appreciate it! Also, is everything a toll road around there? We came out in July to see if we would like the area, and we loved it except for the toll roads. Isn't there a way to get to the airport quickly without using them? |

You can live almost anywhere you mentioned and still be able to get to OIA within 45 minutes, in rush hour though, I'd avoid 408 and I-4 travel. I"d say your best bet would be to look at area's with access to the 528 and/or 417 as those are less traveled highways. Altamonte springs - Ok, but your looking at closer to 45 minute commute and you'd be taking the I-4 everyday. Oviedo - Very nice with access to 417, about a 20-35 minute drive to OIA Clermont - Very nice area, Only place you'll be able to enjoy hills, but a little far from OIA, definetly closer to 45 minute drive, Winter Garden, Ocoee and Windermere would still be in West orange (very close to the west orange bike trail and parks), and be a little closer to OIA Minneola- pretty much the same area as Clermont St. Cloud - Don't know much about this area Casselberry - A little older area, a few nice homes in the area, and some very affordable housing too, but if your considering there I'd check out Winter Springs and the Tuskawilla area too just east of Casselberry but a little nicer IMO Titusville - That's pretty far out there, but it's a straight shot on the 528 to the airport on it, and I've heard some people live there and commute to orlando....I have a feeling it's going to be too far for your preferences though. There are alot of other area's I think you'd like but I'd definetly put the Lake Nona area off Narcoosee on your list of places to see, very nice, comparable in price to alot of the area's you mentioned, and 5-10 minutes from OIA. |

Semoran Road (SR 436) leads directly to the airport without tolls. You can also travel onto Narcoosse Road and enter the 528 (Beach Line) and get off at Goldenrod. Stay in either the right or middle lane (Tradeport Drive - which is the back road of the airport). Go to your next traffic light (Cargo Road and make a left). Stay in your left lane and you will see the signs for the terminal, follow that and it will bring you right to the terminals without all the traffic coming into the airport. Little known road unless you are a Lake Nona, Narcoossee, or airport employee.
