Developers plan 155-room Cambria Suites near Lake Eola - Orlando Sentinel

This should be really nice once built. It will erase the final eyesore surrounding Lake Eola.

Awesome! Thanks for the news.

The new restaurant at the Vue right next to that is making progress too. If you drive by the Vue, peek inside the open door and you will see they are doing a lot of work in there.

Don't know how many of you have been by Lake Eola lately, but the fountain has been completely torn down for its big renovation (Disney is involved)...can't wait to see the final product.

They mentioned Sonesta in the article, but that hotel just bit the dust. The letters are being taken down and a For Sale sign is in front of the building.

The Sonesta is becoming the DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando Downtown.

Please tell me they are rebuilding the fountain to retain it's iconic look?

Yes ORL but they are bringing the fountain into the new millenium with high tech lights and new water jets that will shoot 150 ft into the air.

That's good to hear Rooster, sometimes they try to redesign things and ruin the little bit of history we have here. I don't mind one bit however if the fountain can do more/better tricks.
