Since every other thread on the Orlando board is about crime, I figure I contribute...crap, burglar in my house...gotta go!!!
Seriously, whats up with all the crime threads? I know it's bad but...come on |

I know it. My family is considering a move to central FL (not necessarily Orlando, but close enough) so I've been comparing the other cities with crime boards on city-data. This particular Orlando board seems the worst for crime related threads.
I like to know the data, but come on...the crime in Philly is much worse than Orlando. Wonder why all the bashing? |

I would be lying to say Orlando crime is not bad, but seriously, there ARE safe areas in Seminole County and other areas in Orlando, and enough is enough with the crime threads!

You know the saying, bad news travels fast! In todays society we focus more on bad than good for whatever reason. Glad I'm not like that.

I know... I am planning on moving to Orlando to pursue an internship. I came to these boards for more information, but now I'm scared that I might be stabbed/shot/raped... not saying that these aren't dangers that are not possible in California, but these boards make it seem like everyone in Orlando is violent and ready to kill. It's hard to know how real the threat is.

Well by experience i might be able to relate a part of Cali to Orlando since ive been and lived in both, so this is the best way i can tell you...... i have been to areas in California and lived there as a kid and ive grown up in each part of Florida except Southwest Florida......i was in the bay area near Oakland California....and when i rode through those neighborhoods i would say that the suburbs of Orlando can compare to places like Hayward, Freemont, and Castro Valley........and parts of San Jose...and im just saying that is the only way i can compare and tell people the feeling i get in both cities even though they are not the same......
the only really bad areas that you might have to wear a bullet proof vest in Orlando everyday is near Pine Hills and Paramore district and some other pockets of ghetto throughout Orlando .....it is pretty safe and nice throughout the whole city but there seems to be little ghettos in all the suburbs of Orlando....excluding Heathrow and Windemere and those rich areas .....but its kinda like any other city....you adapt if your here or there long enough....i wouldnt be afraid to move to Orlando if i was an outsider .......dont worry about what people say on here ......but there are areas you dont need to drive around though if you dont know anyone or have family there .....even if you are from the worst ghettos in other cities because if you dont know people in an Orlando ghetto than you could have some problems seriously...and i think that is the same everywhere you go as a rule.....but there is a higher rate of crime in Orlando ghettos than other cities and there are a few other cities that are worse than Orlando's ghettos...but a murder is a murder anywhere you go....someone losses a family member and that isnt good for anyone |

I live in SE Orlando - have had no problem with crime. Things should be fine in Orange County if you make it a point to live in the Tivoli Woods, Lake Nona, Lee Vista, Waterford Lakes areas - and avoid parramore and pine hills. Sure, we lock the doors at night, but it's sure not the war zone some would like you to think.
