Former Orlando Mayor Carl Langford recently passed away. I never knew much about him except driving by Langford Park. After reading the article below, I've learned he lead Orlando through it's greatest period of change, the arrival of Disney. But his biggest accomplishment is turning MCO from a an Airforce strip into the major air hub it is today. Given all that I think they should consider renaming Orlando International Airport the Carl Langford International Airport in tribute to his service to the city.

As long as the designator stays MCO, I'm fine with that.

Regardless of what he actual name changes to I don't think the abbreviation of the name ever changes. For instances the when Southwest Florida Regional Airport became Southwest Florida International Airport the abbreviation remained RSW. We'll always be MCO for McCoy. I think at the least they should consider renaming the main terminal to Langford in his honor.
