Maybe our definitions of dead are different. No offense though, I like the pride in Orlando. Purge Aids spreaders, what are the main sections of Downtown were is the main locations where the action is?
Orange Ave, Magnolia Ave, Church Street, Pine Street, Wall Street...

Not sure where you went, but on any given weekend you practically can't even drive on those streets. Best to park and walk.

Even coming from a big city with a downtown that's much more vibrant than Atlanta (probably only second to NYC in North America), I'd be crazy to say downtown Orlando is dead on weekends.

Lots of people with big opinions about Orlando who don't even live here. At least me and my girlfriend actually live here to form our opinion.

Plans for new K-8 in Audubon Park - Bungalower

Here's something local government is doing right. Take an old underused property and rebuild to suit a need. No need to take up additional or undeveloped land, no need to spend purchasing land that's already available. The plans look really great as well.

How is the I-Drive 360 complex coming along? Is it open yet or just the Eye thing? I know Shake Shack will be opening there this year.

It's done (unless they're adding more to it than when I was there.)
It's very nice.
My only gripe is that because its main clientele are tourists, attractions there are WAAAAY overpriced.
I went there with my kids and my niece and blew through over $250 in no time. Was it fun? Yes. Was it worth $250? Not at all. I can think of a myriad of things we could have done with that that the kids would have enjoyed better.
Sealife, for example, doesn't hold a candle to the Tampa Aquarium, yet the admission price is the same/higher.

Only the awesome can turn a 9er to a 16er. Silence FOOLS! This is a really good conversation lots of good post here, not totally one sided either. I think once Downtown can get on the level of I Drive on a daily-weekend basic Orlando Metro will definitely be a power player.

I just don't quite get this comparison with I Drive.
On any weekend night, downtown Orlando is considerably busier (and much livelier) than I-Drive...

Downtown gets ton of activity. I don't know why BlackPeach thinks I-Drive gets more.
