Hey Flanders. We are new here, but the way you described how you felt when you arrived home at 8:30 pm is the exact same way we feel. I don't understand it. And yes, it seems that unless you move to an out of the way area, where you would be crying over your commute, this is what you have to look forward to!

lake mary to down town is a distance of about 20 miles, at rush hour normally takes about 35 minutes, that is not bad for city driving

I drive into downtown from the 'new' east side of Orlando...Lake Nona area...every morning. It takes about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. It takes me 20 minutes to get home. If I have to go to the pharmacy, grocery store, laundry etc. There are new stores...Walgreen's, CVS, Publix, even a new Home Depot within 5 -10 minutes of my home.

Good for you! I have not had that experience, though. Then again, I don't do it every day.

That's part of what I don't like about Orlando any more. There's a Walgreens, CVS, Publix, Albertsons, Home Depot, Lowe's, 18 Gas stations and 43 7-11s within 5-10 minutes of everyone's home.....

Lived in Miami 9 years. In my opinion Orlando is way more ghetto than Miami. I have never seen so many Chrome wheels in my whole life.

I can tell you that, honestly, crime in General is not a huge issue. Of course stay away from the bad areas. But if you are looking to enjoy Orlando, but at a safe distance, Windermere and Gotha are beautiful areas on the west side of Orlando. You will find that, besides Pine Hills, more crimes happen on the east side and downtown. Windermere and Gotha are definetly more expensive but worth EVERY Penny. Just visit, and you will understand. There are townhomes from rent in Windermere.
