And, what was the name of the buffet that was at the airport (?). The food was wonderful. My oldest brother took me there for dinner one night and I thought I had died and gone to heaven......

wonderful thread but the posters are getting younger and younger.....
The most popular steak place on Colonial had to be either Linda's La Cantina (started out as Al & Linda's) or Barney's. La Cantina is still going strong but sadley Barney's just closed in the last year or so.

The only buffet I remember on the way to the airport was Ryan's. I'm not on that side of town much anymore except to go to the airport and I avoid 436 in doing so. Hopefully someone from that side can help you out.

I thought there used to be a Sizzler about a couple of miles north of the airport on 436, on the right side. Could that be the one?

Champ Williams ran the food service at the airport for years. Until he went to jail. When he did the food was great. Then Marriott took over.

Some one asked if the "Marijuana Growers of Florida" really donated money to the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. YES INDEED It was 1974 or 75.

There used to be a small fine steak house in Furn Park, Just north of 436 on 17-92. It was an old house. Anybody know the name?

Across from AL & Linda's LaCantina There was the 94th Aero Squadron. And on the same side of the street as AL & Linda's was Willeby's

Downtown there was Nichol's Alley and across from it was the HUB. Further south was The San Juan Hotel and the Lamar.

Buddy Epson was from Orlando and it is rumored that he introduced Walt Disney to the town.

I love coming back to this site to see what people remember.

I was never old enough to enjoy/remember Church Street but I've seen pictures and it looks like it would have been a great place. Why doesn't anyone occupy it anymore?

It wasn't called Ruth Chris back in the day. Back in yhe 70's it was across 50 in the HUIlton now a defunct flop house and was Hilton's House of Beef and then they built the free standing building across from Parkwood Plaza on John Young and it was House of Beef and then many others until it closed.
