Sup everybody? This is my 1st post on the forum. Anyways, Lemme get to the point. Im really thinking about making the move down to Orlando. My second choice is Houtson, TX. Im wondering hows the property taxes and home insurance rates are? Me and my girlfriend have an apt already down there by the millenia mall. I fly down every month. I wanted to actually own a home instead of renting when i move there. Im just worried that the additional home fees is going to hurt me. I also read about crimes going up in orlando but i think i can deal with it due to the fact im from the bronx (born and raised) plus, i dont plan to live in a bad area anyways. Im a letter carrier for the US Postal Service so i plan to put in a transfer request if theres no other hidden fees concerning owning a home. Thank you for your time.

hi there, i think in this market it is smart to get your own home especially with the way interest rates are. i tell people that it is also a great market to move up into a better home too. there are lots of places in the Orlando area that is safe, and feel free to pm me anytime for any questions. there are no hidden fees in buying a home as long as you have a recommended mortgage broker, bank, etc. that will show you your standard costs. you would have closing costs, and any money to put down helps out as well. i'm happy to help you out pm me anytime

Approximation of annual fees & costs associated with owning an average $300,000 home:
Taxes - about $3000 Insurance - about $2000 - doesn't include flood insurance Home Owner's Association dues in newer subdivisions - about $1,200 Electricity - $225 - 350/month; lower in the cool months Monthly Mortgage - $2,000 ($24,000/year) Maintenance Items Roof - needs replacing about every 15 years - max; present cost: $10,000 Water/Sewer - $100/month. If septic instead of sewer, figure $300/2years for clean-out; and $10,000 for new drainfield every 15 years |

Whatever......i don't sugarcoat things and i do like living here and there is lots to do and i love palm trees and warm weather....i am a native Floridian and it is in my blood to love this state.......just don't like when people from notoriously (formerly notoriously) bad areas say that there is no problem here in Orlando........they think i have only lived "here" all my life ...........people are funny always saying that up north is alot worse than Orlando or any part of Florida.......well keep trying to believe that......i know there are ghettos up north that i wouldnt want to be caught in but im telling you that if you are from up north and think that nothing is going to happen to you here because it just simply looks better here then you are mistaken......i have seen other places and Orlando does have some issues .....and for people that come here and think it is paradise ....well good for you.....enjoy your $300k home and nice $50k salary while i live in the real world....maybe i am busy building up my own life to help others instead of doing what you suggest....it would be nice if i didnt have to work all these hours at work to afford to pay the rent to my mother and my car payments and school loans at age 29 but i guess you can go on believing you have lived my life....LOL |

LOL........You guys see nothing wrong in these pics because i am trying to prove that this is considered a suburb in Orlando.......this is not the ghetoo....for the 2nd time...THIS IS NOT THE GHETTO......I was giving info on an area of Orlando by posting pics instead of giving my opinion on the place......2nd of all .....tell me something ?.....Where did i live growing up?...... and what country were my ancestors from?....youre words are inteded to try to hurt someone as i read them trying to look at them from an outside point of view.....You don't know me at all lil buddy.......maybe Philly is worse than Orlando for those that live in Philly ghettos and move to suburbs out here in Orlando but for Philly suburbanites that move to Orlando and have to live in the ghetto out here ....I guarnetee they don't think this is better.....It has the same problems as any ghetto because there are poor people in both places and there is high crime in both places...... Most (97%) of people that move from up north end up in the suburbs of Orlando and then say how much better the city is here......they say stuff like "i don't even have to watch my back out here"......even when there are stories like the following...... 1 In 2 Men In Downtown Orlando Have Guns On Weekends, Police Vet Says - Local News Story - WKMG Orlando you still don't think things are bad.....maybe 100% of people carrying guns while walking on streets where people go clubbing and have fun will finally make you see that there are"real" problems here in Orlando.....Downtown isnt the frikin ghetto and 1 of 2 men pack guns while walking around.....does this also happen in Philly in the clubing district or are you going to tell me a myth? We know Philly has problems in the ghetto but in a normal part of town people are in fear around here....don't talk .....bring a story that proves crime in Orlando is no problem ......oh .....you said something about how there was no weed build up on the grass and only a couple peces of trash on the ground right?.......i know exactly what you are "trying" to make me think...and this is what I call the northern stubborn mentality.....you are trying to make me think....hey if he doesnt think that looks bad then he must have lived in something i couldnt ever imagine....LOL.....Good try but you really dont know where ive lived so how do you know what other cities i have seen the poverty in?......LOL.....Maybe if i was just stuck in one place my whole life all 29 years then i might not be able to say things are bad or good compared to other places but ive been around and know the difference..... |

Oh these pics are in the suburbs again....and like i said at the top ....i dont think this is the "bad" part of town but just a couple bummy looking people walking around.....you're idea up north of bummy is dudes with bubble jackets and a headband on and some timberland boots.....down here i know the difference because i am used to the culture......if you think a dude with dreads and a bottle of beer in his hands walking down the street starring at each car that rolls by as if to say "i'll beat that azz if you stop that car" ..... in the suburbs is a model citezen then you might be in trouble down here.....youre way of seeing bumy wont work here or in California.....its stupid to say that you know what the bummy look is down here.....i know.....doesnt look too bad to someone from Philly right?......well tell that to the guys you walk by on some street in Orlando that try to jump you because you were uninformed about how bummy looks and acts in the south
I want to see your pics of a Philly suburb since its so much worse than an Orlando suburb and i would like to see a street sign to prove it is out in the suburbs Last edited by THASPECIAL; 09-01-2007 at 01:43 PM. |

I want to see your pics of a Philly suburb since its so much worse than an Orlando suburb and i would like to see a street sign to prove it is out in the suburbs[/QUOTE Why did you describe the residents in your photos as bummy? What is your criteria for being bummy? Adversary posted that he was already renting an apartment near the mall. Don't you think he already knows the area? The area you took the photos is NOT a suburb. Your photos were taken in the city of Orlando. It's 2 exits from downtown. There is a sign across a bridge on I-4 near the Mall that reads Welcome to Orlando. Americana Blvd is well within the city limits. I am a transplant from Philly, but I've been a resident of Central Florida for 31 years and I love this area, as do my native born family members. Adversary, the posts from Prichard and rholborn are accurate with good advice. I hope you enjoy Orlando as much as I have. Last edited by stugots32837; 09-02-2007 at 09:21 AM. |
