I was looking for a little more insight of Orlando, I hear many great things but we will be moving blind, and have children. I have a 12 yr old, daughter who will be finishing 6th grade and a 4 yr old son, who would be finishing preschool. We're looking around the suburb area of Orlando and was wondering about schools, what would be the best choices for us! Greatly appreciate any insight...

In Central Florida look into the Seminole County area of Lake Mary & Wekiva Springs. Orange County would be Lake Nona & the Horizon West area of Windermere & Winter Springs behind Disney.

Others would include Dr Phillips and Winter Park not knowing your price range.

Hope this helps to get you started,

Lake Mary is the most family-friendly suburb in my opinion and features highly rated public schools at all grade levels. City of Lake Mary, Florida

Definitely check out Avalon Park and the whole east side of Orlando (32828). VERY family oriented, with every type of A-rated school built right into the neighborhoods, excellent town center, close to good shopping (Waterford Lakes), etc. Home values are amazing right now, you can get a 4 or 5 bedroom newer homes (2800-3600 sq.ft. range), sometimes with pool, in low to mid 200's, although those might be short sales. For one thing, you will enjoy the weather a lot more down here!! I'm originally from MI. Check out lots of different areas though, there is something for everyone.

It's better than it was, but hardly "taking off."

Lot's of hospitals. ORMC, Florida Health and all of their outlying facilities. Lake Nona. Depends on what you're looking for.

Winter Park=East Grand Rapids. Think of the Seminole County burbs as a Forest Hills equivalent.
