Exactly! I was just trying to let people know that facts and they can decide on their own. I have people argue with me all the time about how they love it here. Yes it is great for the things I mentioned like the weather and beaches but eventually people will see that there is more to life then that. Living somewhere that you can go for a walk at night or in the morning and not be worried all the time or even sleeping at night. Living somewhere that you can see the seasons change and know that there is more beauty in that then straight hot weather all the time. The color of the leaves changing can make people personality change. Your surroundings can make a person feel better. The people here are stuck up and selfish in my opinion and I admit I am part of them but I want the simple life in a nice town with seasons. I just have to sell my condo and I can have that. Florida is different now and there are more and more people coming and there are more and more people going. It will only get worse because of the people we do get in here. It isn't the people retiring anymore. It is a different group and when they get here they change and become nasty and rude. That is my opinion as eveyone has one. Now I must say I have gained a lot of good from Florida over the years such as a great career, great friends and my family. Now it is time to start fresh somewhere else.

Now I have job offers, I'm getting asked if I need medical benefits, the pay is very nice. When I walked into a temp. agency they had jobs and interviews for me thee SAME DAY. Not one of them had the requirement to speak spanish. Happy to be out of the abusive environment aka Orlando. People can't just up and move because they don't like a place. It takes time and careful planning. I hope to never live in any part of Florida ever again. Now I can hitch my wagon to any star....like I did before...back to the good life. Moonbeam |

"Oh yeah-it's great here! Weather is awesome, great paying jobs, crime is not that bad, etc.." Then maybe houses will start to move again. Me, I feel awful doing that even though our condo is for sale. I would want to know the truth before making a huge decision like that. |

I think it's great. I spent 3 weeks in GA, TN and SC this summer. They are getting congested with people moving in - reminds me of Florida there already.

Daughter lived in Orlando for 8 years. Daughter moved out due to high crime, and did not wish to stay in that environment. Fiance thinks he wants to move to Orlando (it's all a mouse world to those who don't know). She is taking him this weekend to "tour" Orlando. She does not want to move back there. Her "tour" includes Crime Hills (oh, sorry, Pine Hills) and neighboring/like places. You guys are not complaining, you seem to be trying to open some eyes to the truth about the realities of living in Orlando. Everything you have said is pretty well spot on, as Simon would say. Unless, of course, if one could afford Windemere..........

"Spare Us"..?......WTF.......do you mean spare rich people or people that are so good that they dont have the kinds of problems that make you live payceck to paycheck....i would have stayed quite but "spare us"? ....thats a little rude.....You just dont get it....not everyone has 2 g's in the bank to up and move....most people that are saying there is crime and issues here actually are seeing issues unlike the people who say, "where are all the issues?".....When is the last time your car overheated and you were afraid that you would have to take the bus to work or walk a mile or 2 to work everyday until you saved up money to get a new chunker.............well they arent in your neighborhood because you are fortunate to have more than these people so please stop trying to tell people to be quite about things that are really happening in thier own lives....we arent all negative people we are just admitting that we see issues and dont turn our head away from the truth.....no one ever tells you to stop flaunting your money and nice neighborhood in front of us on here so stop saying that we shouldnt talk about problems that Orlando and other cities "do" have |

Thats my point as well....who is anyone to tell someone to up and move....maybe in thier world they can do that but for alot of people it will take years to save that kind of money.....i guess the people that say to up and move are rich or just being rude by assuming they know another persons life and situation and think that the person has the same bank account as them to up and move...that is really rude....I am glad you are enjoying your move so far....too bad some people are so oblivious on here and living in luxury compared to most average Orlando citizens |

Thaspecial.....I understand what you are saying. The neighborhood you live in and your financial situation makes a huge difference. My mother in law lived in Parramore until about 5 years ago. We finally talked her into selling her home and moving in with us because we worried ourselves sick every time our son went down to spend the night with his grandmother. Now she lives with us and talks about the 'rich' people who live here. No one in our community is rich. If they were really rich - they would live in a far nicer place than this. BUT - it's all a matter of perspective. To her, coming from Parramore - this is rich. I have friends who live in Isleworth and they are the ones I consider rich. Most posters just want to give information to others looking to move here. When people post that they have 400K to spend on a home - they can afford to live in a nice area. I just don't see the point in telling them all of Orlando is a landfill. People are poor and have problems such as you describe in your post everywhere - they are not exclusive to Orlando. It is good that you give a perspective that I and some others do not see. But that's just the point.....we don't see it where we live and work. That doesn't mean it isn't real. But it is not our experience and probably wouldn't be the experience of most who move here and have the means to live in good communities. |
