Now she lives with us and talks about the 'rich' people who live here. No one in our community is rich. If they were really rich - they would live in a far nicer place than this. BUT - it's all a matter of perspective. To her, coming from Parramore - this is rich. I have friends who live in Isleworth and they are the ones I consider rich.

Most posters just want to give information to others looking to move here. When people post that they have 400K to spend on a home - they can afford to live in a nice area. I just don't see the point in telling them all of Orlando is a landfill.

People are poor and have problems such as you describe in your post everywhere - they are not exclusive to Orlando. It is good that you give a perspective that I and some others do not see. But that's just the point.....we don't see it where we live and work. That doesn't mean it isn't real. But it is not our experience and probably wouldn't be the experience of most who move here and have the means to live in good communities.

Thanx for the reply.....i think there is alot of misunderstandings on here because in reality we all are in different situations and come with different info and points of view......bottom line is when i state and opinion i try not to disrespect people but when people are rude i do get defensive ....not talking about you being rude or anything .....but things like i just responded to on this very thread......i dont hate the specific person for saying to "spare us"....but i just dont think its a nice thing to say.....

i dont think Orlando is all bad either......and even in Paramore there are some people who actually havent been robbed before just like in other cities bad areas, but if a family was moving here from up north to a community like Metrowest or somewhere that would look nice in the pics..they would have the mentality that they come from streets littered with garbage in NY or somewhere up north and wouldnt expect that thier family would be surrounded by bad areas if they moved to metrowest just based on the pics ....so when people come on here and say it looks safe because of the palm trees then they really are putting thier family at risk....you have to be local to understand where the bad areas are in Orlando because its not like other cities......

When i lived in Nashville they had about 8-9 housing projects and 3 bad sections of town, but the rest of the city was fine.....it wasnt like here in Orlando....in Orlando you could live near UCF and you dont have to drive 10 miles to be in a part of town that is kind of ghetto...like Azelea Park or on Curry Ford rd......and the same goes for Altamonte ....yeah the majority of the Altamonte area is a safer area and looks nice but even in the same city of Altamonte they have a little ghetto over there near 17-92....and Sanford is the same and Winter Park is the same and Apopka is like that too.....

There are lots of nice areas here but it seems a ghetto isnt too far from those areas....unless you live in Islesworth or Windemere ect........When i first moved here i thought the Oakridge road area wasnt a bad area just driving through but after living here for a while and knowing people and hearing stories and seeing things on trips through parts of town i found that some areas arent as they seem....thats why i say what i say too.....but i have read some of your posts and realize taht you know this too and that you are a positive person.......i just dont want to give the information about an area that i know about in town without stating that id seen this or that happen there before because some people wont think this or that could happen in that area unless i say i experienced it or heard a story from a friend or something......i guess we explain things in different ways.....but thanks for your response

We can do this everyday, its not going to change. If you don't like it here simply move and if you really want something go talk to your Congressman or Senator because its really annoying, thank you!
seeing that san diego is not the only city in the world to endure bad manners is enlightening to me. its my little window to the world.
thanks for being there.
ps watching these posts is a lot different than watching CNN and a lot better.

moonbeam is on a distinguished road
What? The people who have 400k to spend on a house wouldn't have the same issues we had? Not true at all. Give me a break. My focus on here is to enlighten people...bottom line.
Wouldn't they still put their kids in area schools esp. if they were A-rated? Odyssey Middle did not have special ed. teachers when my child went and that's a popular issue with families today. People need to know to ask that question if they plan on enrolling their children there. Because you have money doesn't mean your child won't have learning disabilities. We are all created equal. University High School has an awesome program for kids who need extra help. We loved that school! Finally a school that supported our child. My child has an extremely high IQ just had problems with auditory processing. This information is VITAL because it relates to your child's education.
Also the demographics of the area of east Orlando should be known otherwise how will future residents know? Real estate agents are not allowed to discuss area neighborhoods (I'm an agent). I have nothing against all the diversity I just don't want to live amongst it. It's my families choice.
We lived in a very nice community. It's central Florida living nowadays...a heavy multicultural mix more so in east Orlando. I wish somebody would have told me all that before I moved there. Moonbeam

Moonbeam, Let me clarify. What I said was that people who had 400K to spend on a home wouldn't have to worry about living in a dangerous area. they have the means to live in a nicer community. I was responding to Thaspecial.

That is a fact......sorry to sound negative but actually my mother is moving back to Tennessee, but i am staying here and going to try to make it on my own now again......I was looking through an apartment guide last night and i can only afford apartments in not so good areas....so if i had a kid there would be more that i would have to think about in those cheaper areas then in those nice places. I can't even believe we are arguing that there isnt more issues in sections of town that are lower income....it is a fact that there are more issues in schools in lower income areas.....So when i move, and any other family has to move into a lower income area...... that means that i and those families will be dealing with alot of things that people in 400k homes won't be dealing with in thier neighborhood...not saying that there aren't issues that kids have a hard time dealing with in those areas as far as school work and getting along with classmates goes...i'm just saying that you can't think that each public school is at the same level as far as teachers and programs for kids, and the kids' surroundings at school and away from school are.....
