LOL, what??
From Amway Center? Maybe a minute. They must be talking about from their seats, down the stairs, and out the doors.

NBA All-Star Game Orlando 2012: Central Florida will host 2012 NBA All-Star Game in Orlando and Daytona 500 on same day - OrlandoSentinel.com

On Feb. 26, the region will host both the NBA All-Star Game in Orlando and NASCAR's premier race, the Daytona 500. The events, which are expected to attract about 230,000 people, are sure to provide a boost for area businesses — and snarl traffic as the two groups of fans cross paths on infamous Interstate 4.

"What's different from other cities that have hosted the All-Star Game, of course, is we have another major event up the street," said city traffic-operations engineer Frank Consoli. "We need people to be patient. It will be congested a little bit, but it will be fun once you get here."

NASCAR estimates about 182,000 people will attend the Daytona 500, which starts at 1 p.m. and typically lasts four to five hours. It will take several more hours to clear that many fans out of Daytona International Speedway once the race is over. Many will head west on I-4 to hotels in the Orlando area.

That surge of race traffic will likely hit Orlando as basketball fans are heading to the downtown Amway Center for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game at 7 p.m.
The traffic has been INSANE! Comparable to Los Angeles (no really its THAT bad)

I4 has been a parking lot all weekend long, and I made a trip to the Mall at Millenia today, and the mall was jam packed! It didnt take long for me to find a parking spot (close to the door albeit, talk about sheer dumb luck)

And the lines in all the stores were ridiculous too, and leaving the mall? Forget it, took me like 30 mins to get from the Mall at Millenia to John Young Pkwy

Yeah millennia was nuts today. Gridlock at multiple intersections. Totally too many cars for the infrastructure there.

Also, sand lake rd going towards I-drive was a parking lot. East bound sand lake was moving much better

John Young going south at Sand Lake was backed up halfway to Oak Ridge today too. Traffic didnt clear up until the road widened to 6 lanes at 528.

I dont understand why Orange County STILL HASNT widened John Young between 528 and Sand Lake to 6 lanes from the current 4. It backs up soooooo bad on that one two mile stretch that its worse than OBT sometimes

I live downtown, fortunately a little further out from where the road closures have been. But I did drive to UCF yesterday to catch the Knights basketball game and had no real bad traffic. Took 50 there and 408 back home.

Have they finally finished widening 50 between 436 and 417?

The All-Star lighting scheme at the Amway looks amazing with the dimmed crowd lights and blue aura, I wonder if they'll consider using it for Magic games as well.
