One problem as I see it. Alafaya and Independence are supposed to be Parkways. Something we most know as a thing of beauty, with trees down the center etc. WHO is the moron that decided to run this thing right in front of an unbelievably UGLY, disgusting power plant???? What a complete eye sore!!! To add to the other part of the conversation, the Section 8 stuff is almost done. There are more units than we ever imagined! Take that and that power plant and it spells - this is no place to live. My experience from up north is the area surrounding the plant us usually less than middle class. Avalon and the surrounding area (Stoneybrook, Waterford Lakes, etc) is headed for a large downturn. Could be another reason why the houses aren't selling, aside from some being over inflated. I'll bet there will be a defection to Lake Nona sometime soon. |

There are sooo many units, oh my God, and to think they are building more...I drove past it lastnight to check out Avalon Reserve, as I've heard about it but never visited. There was graffitti on the entrance sign... great, and more of this to come. I cant wait! NOT!!! |

avalon stinks,, turning into a frat/ dorm housing,, cause they way overpriced the condexes, (they are not houses) and nobody will buy them,, I've never seen so many places for sale in my life.. I wouldn't consider them a house since you can lean out the window and shake your nieghbors hand form his window.. they are sooooo close, also people park all over the streets.. it's really sad.. I loved the idea of avalon, but the reality is they overpriced it and it ruined the chance of a average family getting a home.....

I agree tvmango, I live right there in the same area. Constant speeding, red light running, constant loud muffliers and raggeton playing at midnight or later, and even break-ins now occurring... There has been like 3 strong arm to person robberies in Avalon in about as many months. They had to put up cameras at all the intersections out here now. Accidents all the time, even in the 30-mph zones, it's ridiculous!!! Now, low income housing and graffitti is showing up on signs. I would like to sell and get out too. I hear this in Orlando everyday... "either I love this place, but I just got here from....." or "I hate this place, I cant wait to sell my house and leave." Oh, and "I have lived here for many yrs, but it's time to leave. This place just isnt the same anymore."
I dont think I've ever been to a place where I met more ppl wanting to leave. Where you headed tvmango? |

I have seen radar run on Underhill at least 4 times in the past 6 months. They run it right on Underhill and Alafaya, plus they hide in the school before alafaya.
Im moving out because I don't think it is worth the drive. It's not bad, but I go downtown so much that I can't do the commute anymore. |

Drive down Avalon Park Boulevard, and it's on quite a few of the power or electrical boxes.

Wooooooooowwww. Go someplace where they don't have graffiti on the electric boxes. I have even seen it in that paradise known as Cary, North Carolina. Most people in any place don't even notice. Unless it's gang related type graf, it's some bored kids. Bored kids aren't mutually exclusive to Avalon Park.

It's pretty new to this area. It wasn't there before. But things are changing in these areas. Look around, it's changing rapidly.
