My dad lives in Colorado Springs, I am currently working /living in Olrando, Florida. I really enjoy it hear, but it is like night and day comparedd to Colorado Springs. Orlando has its dangerous areas to live especially with a family. On the other side there are nice areas such as LAke Mary which was voted #4 nationwide for best places to live in the U.S. If you can afford to move there it could be a potential good place to relocate. there are many unsafe highcrime areas in Orlando, stay away from the theme parks to live. Good luck with the relocation.

If you don't want a commute and be stuck in traffic all the time, then stay away from any of the other areas mentioned. Dr. Phillips is no bargain driving to the airport. Traffic to and from here is horrendous and you constantly face major road closures due to traffic accidents, fatalities, etc. I am still boggled by the amount of people and tourist I see driving and reading a map. For god's sake, pull over and figure where it is exactly you need to go.

Any of the homes near the Narcoossee/Moss Park Area are great and within 7 miles to the airport. The previous poster said it takes him 20-25 minutes to the employee lot at OIA from his home - it is usually less if you go in through the back road instead of followig the airport exits. You will learn the ins and outs soon enough.

Prices of homes have plummeted. My neighbor dropped the price of his 2500 sq. ft home from $347 to $299 this past week, so there are bargains to be found.

Anything else you may want to know PM me

Lake Mary, A+ schools. Number 1 place to live in the south, number 4 in the country. It is safe here and my kids go to school here and I'm happy with the schools. Everything is very convenient here. You can buy a decent house here under $300K.

Surprised no one has mentioned Celebration yet Althought we moved out last year after renting for 4 years (we couldn't afford to buy a home there before the market crash), it is a great place for kids and to live. Houses/Condos all rent for about $1/sqft and I would definitely recommend renting for at least 6 months before buying. Celebration is also right off of 417 and about 30 minute ride to the airport and also on I4 and easy drive to Tampa (about 70 miles to the Tampa airport).

Lake Mary gets crowded during the workweek and lunch hour. Other than that, I don't think it's that crowded. (IMO)

Everywhere in Central Florida is crowded, not just Lake Mary. Lake Mary is one of the better choices as far as a place to live. It is not an easy commute to the airport. I still do not understand why there is not an expressway that goes directly to the airport from I-4 in downtown Orlando.

As far as traffic is concerned the extension of 417, the loop around Orlando is going to be started sometime in the next year from what I have heard, although no telling when it will be done.

I am not SUPER familiar with the entire area but I do really like Lake Mary, especially Heathrow.
