It costs a ton of money and provides a small to insignificant service. This won't be the DC metro. At least it will supply jobs as it sucks away tax dollars to try to keep it running.

Or, you might be right. I hope it's a success, but I think it's just economic stimulus.

It's a commuter rail. What do you expect the commuter rail to do? What do you expect a car oriented city/metro to do. This is a start. Honestly to built a light rail line down I-4 is more of a boondoggle than this could ever be, which was the initial solution in the 90's. This train will touch 4 counties, connecting 2 bus services, SEVERAL feeder routes of Lynx (Over 40), and several shuttles.

This would be a phenomenal addition if the technology actually works.

Amazingly Brummer is on board but Jacobs is skeptical. But I wouldn't be surprised if Jacobs does her due diligence and than approves it in the end. This is the missing link that has been discussed since Sunrail was approved, OIA-Sunrail-FL Mall-Convention Center. I think she would find it hard to turn down for FREE if the technology and funding are in fact legitimate. Of course she has to posture and act cautious to satisfy her fiscal conservative base. But if it's not too good to be true, even they have to like this project. $350 Million system for Free.

I was reading those reports and the guy had not had the best track record. So. I understand Jacob's. Viewpoint. This is my side of town so I certainly hope it's a Go because link 42 is so long. Plus lots of people work in this area

Between the Atlanta company wanting to build this train and FEC wanting to privately build the Orlando-Miami HSR, I think this is great news! The big complaint is that people don't want tax dollars subsidizing trains (although why train needs to turn a profit for taxpayers while other transport like airports and highways don't is beyond me). If its a private company doing it, it seems like a win-win. They get to build out our infrastructure at risk only to their investors, meanwhile we get much needed alternative transportation.

I'd take these "Sunrail is a boondoggle" folks more seriously if they had piped up about the Wekiva Parkway or I-4 expansion. But the silence was deafening. Says to me they are cultural opinions and not political ones and certainly not technical ones.

Sounds good to me. Now someone needs to propose a train to Melbourne so I can get to the airport and downtown Orlando without needing to drive.
