Our plan was to save up enough money down so we could buy a house in Windermere or gotha. It seems like it's taking us much longer to save money than what I had hoped. (Just bought a new car and really wasnt planing on having to do so). Long story short my hopes and dreams of living in Gotha or Windermere are been put on hold.

Now here is where I need help, we are looking for a nice place to live with good schools and low crime and of course a peaceful community. Now heres the kicker our budget is only 150k. I need 3 bedrooms 2 baths (Id love to have 4 bedrooms) and at the very least we need 1600 sq ft. Im looking for something that could use some work, thats fine as long as the bones are good and it has the sq ft we need. My husbands pretty handy and with only spending 150k on the house I would have a bit of money to put in to it right from the start. I am not by any means racist AT ALL but we are looking for something in a primarily white area.

I have looked at a few houses online in Altamonte and in Maitland that seem like they would be what we are looking for but Im not sure of the area to much. Is there any zip codes in Altamonte or Maitland I should stay away from? Do you have any other suggestions of places to live that we could find what we are looking for in our price range? Im not a huge fan of Orlando there are places in this city I would love to live but none of them would fit our budget.

Thanks

Edited to remove my kneejerk "Rent First" reaction to the first sentence as you seem to already live in the area.

When you say primary white area, are you talking about the color of the house? Perhaps, fencing?

That statement alone says it all.

Just playing devil's advocate but would your reaction be the same if the OP would have stated she wanted a high African American, Hispanic, Asian or Indian population?

Everyone has a right to the neighborhood they feel most comfortable in.

This being said...Maitland is a very good choice.
