Well, first I'd wonder why in the world you might possibly do that. I have lived in Maitland which is right outside Eatonville. I never even wanted to drive through the town. Its not about bieng predominantly black as much as just bieng dirty, I think. There isn't any new devopment that I have seen. The last time I went there was about 6 months ago and it was just the same as it was in the 80's. There were lots of people sitting outside their houses, riding bikes, but garbage littered the roads, dirt more than grass, and all the buildings need a good washing. People who live there tend to have lived there forever. I would visit it before I make that move and call the local police department. It borders Pine Hills as well which has become the BAD part of town.

Eatonville, FL, population 2,390, is located in Florida's Orange county, about 5.3 miles from Moderator cut: link removed and 80.2 miles from Moderator cut: link removed.
Through the 90's Eatonville's population has grown by about 12%. It is estimated that in the first 5 years of this decade the population of Eatonville has declined by about 2%.
Eatonville's property crime levels tend to be lower than Florida's average level. The same data shows violent crime levels in Eatonville tend to be much higher than Florida's average level.

I have lived in Orlando area for 7 years now and i lived in Miami growing up....went to American High and lived near nw 57th ave....on nw 67th ave and out by P.S.N.

I havent heard anything on the news involving crime as much in Eatonville......It seems like a suburb that belongs in Atlanta....it seems really quite but just an older black community ......i really dont think it is actually on the border of Pine Hills....at least it isnt near Mercy Drive and paramore is what i mean.......If you are black and want to be in a safer black community i would just look in to it......i really honestly never heard of alot of bad things in that area......but maybe someone else knows better that lives there....i just drove through a bunch of times when i had to take shortcuts to get to Downtown from Altamonte Springs when i used to live up there....Good luck

I agree with Thaspecial. I never hear Eatonville in the news otherthan hearing about the people who live being pro-active about keeping crime out of their neighborhood and preserving the history of the area. However, I would definitely make a trip up here and check it out in person. Good luck!
