Are there any GOOD Chinese buffets?
Hello all,
I need some recommendations on good
Chinese buffets in Orlando. By good, I mean the food is actually hot and tastes good at the same time. Also, the food container is switched out when the food inside it is low or gone, rather than "new" food dumped on top of the old food and mixed together.
I already know buffet-style will not suffice for sit-down restaurant quality, but sometimes we need a good buffet so we can try something new and be able to eat something else if we didn't like it.
For now the only Chinese buffet I know that I feel is excellent is Kim Wu on Kirkman Road. The only problem is that their buffet is only for lunch. Then it's sit-down for dinner.
Any good Chinese buffet suggestions for Orlando?
Thanks,
Setsunna.

I can't help. NEVER have I had good food on a Chinese Buffet. I'm not sure Chinese food lends itself to being kept heated on a buffet table. The veggies get overdone and icky.
We even spent $20+ bucks apiece to go the Crazy Buffet in Altamonte Springs. I thought the food was awful! I have heard their sushi is great and they certainly have a large selection of it, but I hate sushi, so I can't speak for that.
The best Chinese food I've ever eaten was cooked and served in my own kitchen. LOL

LOL I hear you on that! I guess it's official, there are no good ones (besides Kim Wu). I went to Crazy Buffet in Altamonte as well and it was pricey, but I'm sure the price was paying for the set up of the restaurant and not the food. I'm sure some of that food was good, but too much of it, I would never eat - like squids and mussels (sp), and crab legs. I don't eat such things. I just like good common food like lo mein, eggrolls, and yes, sushi (california rolls - no raw fish)
Oh well, just thought there'd be an easter egg out there that I didn't know about....
Setsunna.

We like China First in Altamonte off 436. Also there is a good one in Lake Mary by Target. We get chinese from Chop Stix in Lake Mary. They have the freshest food.

I know alot of people who agree with you. Perhaps they were just having an off night when I was there or I just don't like the main things they seem to specialize in - sushi, steamed shrimp, crab legs, etc.

I like Crazy Buffet too and on the more upscale non-buffet, hands down is PF Changs at the Mall at Millenia.

Sorry Everyone. There is No Good Chinese food in Florida. Get on a plane and go to Boston. That's where you'll find the best Chinese food.

The Chinese Food in Orlando is absolutely the worst anywhere. They have an ASIAN corridor on Stateroad 50 and Mills with one horrible Vietnamese or Chinese restaurant after another. The buffets are prolifically disgusting slop with the exception of Bill Wongs which is on the NE corner of I-Drive and Kirkman. I recommend it for lunch only, for dinner it is overpriced. There is also a takeout restaurant in a strip mall off Sand Lake West of 4, it faces a Wallgreen's right before Dr. Phillips Boulevard. (I think it is called Bay Hill something, it is a takeout). This is the only place to get true Hong Kong NY style fried rice where they actually put a lot of Pork and no peas and Carrots (A Central Florida Phenomenon). In addition, Jim Bo, next to Whole Foods on Aloma is solid and they give you noodles on the table like they do in various other cities.
