I just moved to Winter Garden, off 535 [winter garden vineland] , below Hwy 50 Colonial Drive. Its fine , I'm in a gated condo complex, with a mixture of people - families with kids, retirees, young professionals, all races. Hwy 50 does get a little sketchy in some parts like west on 50 & north of 50 is sketchy too. BUt I just don't go in those directions.
I found shopping east on Hwy 50 near Ocoee- which seems fine too. But once the very huge shopping plaza opens down 535, Fowlers Grove, I will be shopping there. Windermere is next area over from Winter Garden which is very affluent, high income area, very nice. Tiger Woods has a house there. I think you'll like it in WG. |

I was born and raised in Orlando and have since moved back (after college) to Ocoee. While it wasn't my first choice of places to live, the area has turned out to be great and I'm not planning on moving anytime soon. Between the two, Ocoee is a better place to be if you want to be closer to the town of Ocoee (stay south and west, though). Winter Garden covers a much larger area and has some great subdivisions on the south side of Highway 50. Take a look at the Stoneybrook West area and the subdivisions around (just north of) the new shopping center. I wouldn't move into Winter Garden proper, however, unless you have a chance to meet some of the locals and get a good understanding of where the best communities are ...

Definitely south of hwy 50 is the most desirable but there are also some nice areas north as long as you choose wisely.

i agree stay south of hwy 50. above or north of hwy 50 is not good- at least from what I have personally seen.
gatorace - what do you mean by WG proper, which streets or vacinity do you mean? Just wondering as I have just moved to WG myself. |
