Relocating from Germany to Orlando and getting worried... (Altamonte Springs, Winter Garden: real estate, apartment)

I'd say the OP has it wrong too. The NE and SE are the best areas to live if you can't afford Windermere. All the Lake Nona developments as well as the Waterford Lakes communities of Waterford, Eastwood, Stoneybrook and Avalon Park are fine places to live.

I have to agree with Noodles on Thatspecial. Not to be rude or anything but my impression of you is that you're a younger person without a lot of live experiences. You have the right to your personal feelings because they happened to you. I think it's beyond redundant that you keep posting the same things on all the posts, or turning a perfectly positive post around to a negative spin on crime. I am pretty sure anyone searching on these boards about crime will come up with all your posts on crime. Maybe that's your mission on these boards... to "vent" as you say. I really don't think these boards should be your personal venting place because it's just getting really old. I myself don't even read your posts any more.

I believe people come on here for help not only because they want to move here, but because they have to move here with their jobs. I would assume that the majority of people who come to this site are looking for information are not service industry types but more professionals wanting information because they are relocating.

If you keep up with the same stuff why can't you point out that this has happened to you personally, and may not (most likely not) happen to you. I think we all know in today's world that we have to be very mindful of our personal space and surroundings.

No you still must not be able to comprehend english......take a look back at my posts.....i let people know of things that i have actually experienced because if we were all like you then life would be sunshine and rainbows.....and other people getting murdered wouldnt be an issue in our communities because we ignore things like that because it doesnt affect us....that is what i hear all the time when somebody says how wonderfull things are in the whole area .....we dont all live in your neighborhood... .....it might actually be "wonderfull" for your rich azz but for people with real issues there are things to watch out for....and you shouldnt tell someone from Germany to come on over and raise his children in Metrowest or Holden Heights or out in Alzelea Park area.....do you actually want this guy/girl to walk around downtown with a rolex on his wrist on a saturday night ......because thats what he might do if he isnt used to our way of life here and hears that its all sunshine and roses here .........how do you personally know where this guy/girl has been in life.....the same things happened to people in Miami in the 80's and 90's who actually visited from Germany and there were alot of tourists murdered down there because they saw the ocean and palm trees in the brochuere but no one told them that you shouldnt stop your car if someone hits your windshield with a spark plug......yeah overall i have enjoyed living here but am used to American culture but there "has" been somethings i have seen and lived through that i am not turning my eyes from.......one day you might wake up and actually be a victim and then you might be humbled like i was....and if a moderator wants to kick me off for saying what i just said then look at the past posts by me and tell me if i ever start talking about someone in a personal way on here......its usually people like this guy that start some mess on over the internet




p.s......i will keep telling my experience of being a statistic and a victime because it might actually help someone some day to hear an experience .....not knowing there are things happening around you can be dangerous

I believe i "have" posted alot of things that say that areas are good.......i just did one the other day that said Clermont was a safe area and when people attack me i usually say that Windemere and other places for rich people are good and safe too......do you want me to tell someone that Holden Heights is a safe area too?.......i usually post a response that gets personal after someone tries to call me out and ask "why" i think crime might be an issue in areas of Orlando.......i dont start out getting personal...sometimes people need to hear "why" instead of what your opinion is....i can tell someone it is safe but how will they know unless i state my experience living in that specific area......i think alot of people like Ice Cube said in "Boyz in tha Hood" ...don't know, or don't care about what goes on in "other" places....or for that matter to "other" people.......if you said that you had cancer and you kept bringing that up on topics refering to medicine and health on here .....why would i think you should stop saying it?.......it was your experience ......not mine.......and there "are" new people on here everyday that dont know who i am or why i might say some things and they probably wont go back to my first posts on here to read the history of my posting ....so when a new conversation comes up i will still state a fact and an experience of mine as part of my life living in Orlando.......I have lived in a bunch of other places but i dont post about all of my stories or experiences on here .....i only give info on what i think will be good for someone new that is wanting info on a personal level of someone that lives here day to day....you can get stats anywhere on the internet...and you can get pictures of Orlando to....but even in those apartment guides they make some places look safer than the actual area is.....so being personal helps out of town people on knowing how life is here.....Now im going to read all of your posts and see if you have "ever" said anything personal on here....then when i find you have then ill say to stop throwing stones at me....we'll see

Actually 2 times in the past two weeks there were stores robbed that the owner of my store also owned and we locked our carry-out early because of it........one of our drivers was robbed by 3 black dudes in a nice apartment complex out here a couple months ago....and remember i work in a "nice" area out near Disney....i personally didnt expect that to happen out here, but it did an that is a fact ....did i say that i had one feeling or another about it?....so really i am not complaining....im just giving some facts and you might atke them like a person that doesnt want to hear that stuff because it doesnt affect you while living here, but im here to say that it does affect me, the guy that got robbed, and the people that were robbed at the other two stores......you just dont get it because you only care about your little slice of Orlando and will never see what happens to people daily involving crime because you are not living in the same kind of life as some other hard working locals are

1. I am a certified computer systems integration specialist and have over 6 years of professional experience. My resume looks good,
(it just might be to long) but I still can not get a job, applying from Germany. I have tried getting a job using all the main Job Portals
such as Yahoo Hot Jobs, Monster, Computerwork.com, Cybercoders.com a.s.o. It really seems as if employers do not want to hire
someone, that is not inside the country.

Do any of you have experience with HR procedures or work in HR? If so, what do you think the problem could be?


2. I was searching for apartments on Rent.com and found some nice opportunities. I called a phone number that was listed for one of these
apartments and asked the guy I was conversing with, if this place would be available as of 15. November 2007.
Now this is what he asked me: "Are you making more than $16500/Y and less than $27000/Y ?" I answered him accordingly and asked him
why he is questioning me about a max income range.

He said, that these appartments are "Tax Credit". (???)
I asked him some questions about this and I think I understood what it's about.

Now, how do I search for an appartment on the web while being able to determin if the places I am looking at are "Tax Credit" or not.
This information is not shown in the details pane of these sites.

3. Since I do not have a job yet, how can I provide the income information they want?
4. I do not have a rent history I can provide.
5. They want to carry throug an employment history check? How do they want to do this?

I am a little frustrated at this point since I am not familiar with these procedures. I am an american that has spent to many years of his
child and teenage life in Germany and just did not make these experiences.

I would be very greateful for some help. Thank's !

I was told, that Windermere is expensive and way out of sight. This is supposed to be one of the areas that only the wealthy can afford.

Well that might be right. Maybe I do have it wrong. But please take into consideration, that I am doing research on the city of Orlando, while living about 4740 miles away from it. I get my information off the web on forums such as this one. So please bear with me.
