I have hosted students from Germany and my neighbor is from Germany. You should check out Country Creek subdivision on the West side of Altamonte Springs (32714). It is close to I-4 and centrally located. My students have always enjoyed all of the things in our neighborhood like the pools, courts, pond, running areas, and all the trees. Home prices have stayed reasonable here when everywhere else went out the roof. The back of the subdivision is gated and the front will be eventually. The area public schools are highly rated. Come be my neighbor.

Now I have some more questions:
1. I am a certified computer systems integration specialist and have over 6 years of professional experience. My resume looks good,
(it just might be to long) but I still can not get a job, applying from Germany. I have tried getting a job using all the main Job Portals
such as Yahoo Hot Jobs, Monster, Computerwork.com, Cybercoders.com a.s.o. It really seems as if employers do not want to hire
someone, that is not inside the country.

Do any of you have experience with HR procedures or work in HR? If so, what do you think the problem could be?

2. I was searching for apartments on Rent.com and found some nice opportunities. I called a phone number that was listed for one of these
apartments and asked the guy I was conversing with, if this place would be available as of 15. November 2007.
Now this is what he asked me: "Are you making more than $16500/Y and less than $27000/Y ?" I answered him accordingly and asked him
why he is questioning me about a max income range.

He said, that these appartments are "Tax Credit". (???)
I asked him some questions about this and I think I understood what it's about.

Now, how do I search for an appartment on the web while being able to determin if the places I am looking at are "Tax Credit" or not.
This information is not shown in the details pane of these sites.

3. Since I do not have a job yet, how can I provide the income information they want?
4. I do not have a rent history I can provide.
5. They want to carry throug an employment history check? How do they want to do this?

I am a little frustrated at this point since I am not familiar with these procedures. I am an american that has spent to many years of his
child and teenage life in Germany and just did not make these experiences.

I would be very greateful for some help. Thank's !

I had a pretty difficult time finding an apartment in Orlando without having a job first. Most places wanted some type of letter from your employer stating that you made 2 1/2 times what the rent is. I ended up having to find a job before I moved here. This was six months ago, so I don't know how much of that has changed.

I personally would look up all of the Orlando Communications/Telecom Companies that would have what you are looking for and also the large companies that would have an IT dept and then find out who is head of that department and just call them or show up. I feel like if you send a resume, you are just one amongst hundreds...you need to stand out. You probably would if you sound German. I used to work for Cable & Wireless, MCI Worldcom, and Global Crossing and am a little embarrassed to admit it. I have been out of the field now for 6+years so I do not know who the big players are anymore. Also look into telephone equiptment/intergrators. I really think that your best bet would be to get to Fl. first, If you can't get what you are looking for immediately, take something else temporarily and network with people/customers until you fing what you are looking for. Good luck!

Hi,

I live and work in the Tampa area and .. We live in a great neighborhood, where you can actually go for walks at night, and meet up with other families. There are so many activities to do for the children, from little league to dance classes, although mine are older now and attend USF.

I have never felt afraid and we have low crime. It's not a gated community although there is one in the subdivision. The greater Tampa Bay area has a lot to offer, and we do have great beaches, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Devil Rays, Busch Gardens and yes.... how about them USF Bulls!

Come visit us.

Smile Relocating to Florida

Hi,

We have also chosen to relocate to Florida after seven years living in England.

You seem to be focusing on some negatives of living in Florida when there are so many wonderful reasons why so many people want to live there.

We have found some great places to live in the Tampa area but can,t seem to find any good job opportunities there.

We are now looking in orlando for jobs and houses and really looking forward to everything that Florida has to offer us.

Keep Smilin

Tracey

Smile Stay out of Orlando

Hello,

Do yourself a favor and stay out of Orlando, it's okay to work there just don't live there. Orange County schools are ranked at the bottom of the list, Lake County (Clermont) schools are somewhat better but you will pay alot in property taxes.
My suggestion is Lake Mary in Seminole County, it is only around 12 miles from downtown Orlando. Lake Mary is ranked 4th in the nation and 1st in the southeast as far as "best" places to live. Seminole County schools are by far the best in the state.
Here is the entire problem with Orlando........ when you displace several hundred thousand poverty stricken people in New Orleans, where do they go? I'll tell you.... Orlando and Houston. Now you can see why Orlando and Houston's crime rate has risen so dramatically. There is no doubt that Orlando will turn around and once again be the "City Beautiful", just not in the near future.

Hope this helps....

Here is a posting today from Orlando International Airport:

Database Administrator L12 $54,808 to $72,092

Go to the website for Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

if you need any info, feel free to PM me. I have the name of a brand new apartment complex that is just opening up by the airport in the Lake Nona area with rents starting at $925 and includes a lot. I will give you links to them.

However, if I post it here they will censor me as the last time because I was accused of selling/promoting another site, which I was not. I am just a retired housewife trying to help someone, so I will never post a link or another web site.

I am a retired Police Officer and I love it here in the Lake Nona area (retired from NY).
